This is a 12-month mandate in San Salvador, El Salvador
The mandate is under the Equality in Action Volunteer Cooperation Program (VCP), which takes place in 12 countries and 3 regions over an eight-year period (2020-2028).
The VCP aims to increase the involvement of local partners in developing countries in inclusive, innovative, and sustainable development initiatives that will advance gender equality. Oxfam’s role is to support these organizations, working with the most vulnerable and marginalized people, to claim and exercise their rights. Oxfam places the rights of women, girls, and vulnerable and marginalized people at the heart of everything we do.
Here’s what your daily life will look like:
In close collaboration with Oxfam’s in-country team members and partner organizations, your mandate will be to:
- Develop and implement an internal and external communication strategy for the PCV partner organizations, including effective coordination with strategic partners;
- Design and deliver training sessions on communication and advocacy to strengthen political influence capacities;
- Strengthen partners’ digital security by implementing preventive and protective measures against potential risks;
- Support the development and dissemination of audiovisual and digital training materials on gender equality and the prevention of gender-based violence;
For this mandate you must:
- Be a Canadian citizen or have permanent resident status in Canada;
- Have university degree in communication, journalism, graphic design, or any other relevant field;
- Have at least three years of experience related to the mandate;
- Be fluent in Spanish, spoken and written (required);
- Master the Office suite.
What we offer:
- Monthly allowance for living expenses;
- 20% increase in the allowance per accompanying child (maximum of 2 children)
- 1,500$ CAD per year/per child for school fees

- A volunteer support program during your mandate and up to two months after the end of your mandate;

- Develop and implement a comprehensive internal and external communication strategy for the PCV Strengthening Committee, including effective coordination with partner organizations;
- Design and facilitate training processes in spokesperson and communication for political advocacy;
- Strengthen the digital security of partners by implementing protection and risk prevention measures;
- Advising on the development and dissemination of audiovisual materials and digital training on economic empowerment, gender, protection and prevention of gender violence;
For this mandate you must:
- To be a Canadian citizen or to have permanent resident status in Canada;
- Possess a university degree in communication, journalism, graphic design or any other relevant field;
- Have at least 3 years of experience related to the mandate;
- Proficiency in spoken and written Spanish (mandatory);
- Have excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office.
