Médecins du Monde Germany is an international humanitarian organisation that provides medical care to people in need and advocates for the universal right to health. As the German section of the global MDM network, we support over 350 health programmes in nearly 80 countries – from crisis response to strengthening local health systems and access to care for marginalised communities in Germany.
We are looking for a strong candidate who approaches today’s global challenges with commitment, creativity, and courage — someone capable of initiating and driving transformation processes and, together with a professional and dedicated team, shaping the organisation for the future.
As director, you will assume overall responsibility for the operational and strategic management of Doctors of the World Germany. You will shape the further development of the organization in close consultation with the board, the international network, and a passionate team.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Further development of the organization in line with the goals and values of Doctors of the World; representation in the international MdM network.
- Organisational Development: Management and promotion of the team at the Munich and Berlin locations; establishment of modern, effective structures and processes.
- Representation & Advocacy: Represent the organisation in Germany and internationally; build partnerships with public institutions, donors, and civil society.
- Financial Stewardship: Responsibility for budget, controlling, fundraising and sustainability of financing.
- Culture & Values: Strengthening a value-oriented, inclusive, and learning organizational culture.
Your profile
- Several years of leadership and management experience in a non-profit or international health context
- Experience in organizational development, strategic planning, and financial responsibility
- In-depth knowledge of development cooperation, the NGO sector, and the donor landscape (e.g., AA, BMZ, ECHO, foundations)
- Excellent communication and representation skills
- Very good German and English skills; French skills are an advantage
- Identification with the goals and values of Doctors of the World and willingness to travel on business
