Who are we looking for?
War Child Netherlands (WCNL) is one of the fundraising members of the War Child Alliance. In addition to fundraising activities, War Child Netherlands also offers MHPSS interventions (mental and psychosocial support) for children and caregivers with refugee backgrounds.
We are seeking a MHPSS Quality and MEAL Coordinator to play a vital role in ensuring high-quality, evidence-based programming. In this role, you will support the development, planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning within War Child’s interventions in the Netherlands. The coordinator will ensure that programs are data-driven, meet applicable quality standards, and optimally meet the needs of children and their communities.
Your responsibilities
Design and development
- Designing and developing projects and training courses in collaboration with (implementing) partner organizations, based on existing evidence-based methods.
- Developing support activities and guidelines to strengthen the implementation of War Child training and interventions, based on evaluations.
Training en coaching
- Training, coaching, and supporting War Child trainers so they can train and mentor War Child facilitators and partner staff in War Child interventions.
- Training, coaching and mentoring War Child facilitators and staff of partners in War Child interventions.
- Adapting and improving training materials based on the results of monitoring and evaluation of War Child Netherlands training courses and projects.
Monitoring, evaluation, accountability & learning (MEAL)
- Developing monitoring and evaluation tools and guidelines to effectively monitor and evaluate the implementation of War Child training and interventions in the Netherlands.
- Establish MHPSS monitoring and evaluation (M&E) systems based on the evidence-based framework to monitor progress and outcomes of MHPSS programs.
- Adapting intervention materials based on M&E results, in line with the evidence base and in collaboration with the War Child Alliance.
- Collecting, analyzing and reporting qualitative and quantitative data from (pilot) projects to support context-specific programs in the Netherlands, including:
- Sharing results and lessons learned within the organization and with the War Child Alliance.
- Establish and maintain accountability processes (such as feedback and complaint handling systems) that are child-friendly and inclusive.
- Ensure compliance with the CHS standards (Core Humanitarian Standards) within all programs in the Netherlands.
- Ensure the integration of child safety and protection (Child Safeguarding) into the policies, procedures, and practices of partner organizations where War Child programs are implemented.
Your profile
Course
- Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, psychology, public health, international development, or a related field.
Experience
- Demonstrable expertise and at least 3 years of experience in the field of MHPSS.
- At least 3 years of experience in MEAL or program functions within NGOs or humanitarian settings.
Languages
- English and/or Dutch is required.
Knowledge and skills
- Demonstrable knowledge of MEAL frameworks and tools and insight into ethical data collection with children.
- Strong analytical skills and excellent reporting skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficient in using data analysis tools (e.g. Excel, Microsoft).
What we offer
- A meaningful position with direct social impact.
- A permanent position for 32–40 hours per week.
- Salary between €4,015 and €4,992 gross per month (based on 40 hours, depending on experience).
- 8% holiday allowance and 29 days of holiday per year (with full-time employment, of which 3 are fixed days).

- Net compensation for home-working and travel expenses according to our hybrid work policy.
- Monthly net telephone allowance of €25.
