Financial Services and Investment Director, Bangladesh
ACDI/VOCA is seeking a Financial Services and Investment Director for an anticipated access to finance program in Bangladesh funded by USAID. The program will increase access to finance for small- and medium-sized agribusinesses, smallholder farmers, and the rural poor to become more creditworthy, and stimulate increased lending from banks, microfinance institutions, and other lenders through the use of blended finance.
The Financial Services and Investment Director will be responsible for the design and implementation of innovative interventions to promote and enhance the supply of inclusive financial services. They will form strategic partnerships with micro-finance institutions, banks, and other lenders to facilitate investments into medium-sized agribusinesses, smallholder farmers, and the rural poor to successfully implement activities and achieve desired results. The program is anticipated to start in 2023 and this position will be based in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Responsibilities
- Lead the technical design and strategy to increase investment in medium-sized agribusinesses, smallholder farmers, and the rural poor
- Form strategic partnerships with innovative financial service providers including, banks, microfinance institutions, and private sector investors, to expand the outreach of finance and investment opportunities
- Lead and design innovative financial solutions to increase private sector investment, including but not limited to financial products, public-private partnerships, risk-sharing instruments, and blended finance and/or other investment vehicles
- Support the increase of operational efficiency of financial institutions to offer tailored financial products to targeted agribusinesses and smallholder farmers
- Work closely with the business development services team to link firms to appropriate financial services to increase investment
- Create or improve financial services and products for agribusinesses and smallholder farmers and disadvantaged segments of society
- Advise SMEs and firms on available and appropriate financial products and services
- Support and monitor pre-investment and post-investment technical assistance and monitor impact; identity, design, and recommend technical assistance to investees
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business administration, or related field is required; MBA degree is preferred.
- Minimum 6 years of relevant and progressive work experience in access to finance, financial inclusion, and investment, preferably in the agriculture sector.
- Ability to develop innovative and creative financing solutions to catalyze private capital.
- Experience working with financial institutions or private sector investors in Bangladesh a plus.
- Fluency in English required, Bangla preferred.
