General context of the project
INTERSOS is an Italian non-profit, humanitarian aid organization founded in 1992. INTERSOS works towards a world of equality, justice, peace and solidarity, to achieve this INTERSOS helps people to live in dignity and safety, alleviating suffering and meeting their needs. The mission of INTERSOS is to support people, families and communities in areas most affected by crises around the world, providing crucial assistance to populations in life threatening situations, in situations of famine and suffering resulting from extreme poverty, disasters, and conflict.
INTERSOS started to work in Lebanon in 2006 to support the Lebanese people affected by the Lebanese-Israeli war. Since 2013 INTERSOS has been supporting the vulnerable populations in Lebanon affected by the Syrian conflict, including both Syrian refugees and affected Lebanese people. INTERSOS currently operates in all Governorates of the country through 4 bases of operations (BML – in Beirut, South – in Tyre, North – in Tripoli, Bekaa – in Zahle). Protection is the core sector of intervention, often integrated with other complementary interventions (Shelter, Health) either through direct implementation or partnerships.
General purpose of the position
The Grants and Reporting Manager will coordinate with the Country Program Coordinator, Project and Program Managers and Technical Coordinators, as well as with the HQ Grant Officer, to ensure timely support for design and development of new project proposal, reporting in adherence to donor’s guidelines, ensuring these are in line with INTERSOS’ program goals, objectives and indicators.
Main responsibilities and tasks
- Develop clear understanding of INTERSOS program and strategy for Lebanon
- Coordinate with the Country Program Coordinators, Project Managers and Technical Coordinators, as well as HQ Grant Officer, to ensure timely support for design and development of new project proposals, ensuring these are in line with INTERSOS’ program goals, objectives and indicators.
- Conduct a periodical review of all project related documentation, ensuring correct storage, and archiving on INTERSOS Drive and INTERSOS Management Platform (IMP). Implement compliance spot checks on ongoing projects and partners included in programs (e.g. local partners)
- Develop and implement a consistent filing structure and ensure that the project folders are complete and arranged (agreement, amendments, NFFs, signed reports, communications, etc.).- SHARED responsibility with Programme managers and Finance/admin department.
- Coordinate with the Program Department and other departments in order to develop new proposals according to donors’ template and procedures. Be accountable for the initial drafting of the narrative and budget design of any new grant.
- Ensure that programs’ design matches INTERSOS and donor technical minimum standards and seek MEAL department guidance and tools.
- Assist in data management and analysis and visualization of program outputs for monitoring and reporting purposes
- Support in the implementation of field assessments, studies and research as necessary
- Map INTERSOS’ local organizations and provide for quarterly updated mappings.
- Assist in the coordination of detailed plans at the start of funded projects, which is consistent with program documentation (grant document and proposal).
- Ensure the compilation, review and submission of timely, compliant and consistent reporting per INTERSOS and donor requirements.
- Flag significant deviation from the program implementation plan and estimated expenditures; alert relevant staff.
- Support the Country Program Coordinator on the drafting/update of the donor mapping and donor’s strategies
- Support the SMT on the review of new calls and on the Go/No Go process
Required profile and experience
Education
Advanced university degree in humanitarian studies, social sciences or equivalent
Professional Experience
- At least 3 years of professional experience working with humanitarian NGO, working in program design and evaluation
Professional Requirements
- Demonstrate active direct experience in dealing with grants (proposal development and/or reporting) from minimum 2 donors out of the following list: DG ECHO, UNHCR, BHA/BPRM, and UNOCHA
- Demonstrate complete familiarity with Project Cycle Management
- Prior work experience in complex humanitarian settings and/or the Middle East region is desirable.
Languages
- Fluency in English, spoken and written;
- Knowledge/Fluency in Arabic and/or Italian (desirable)

- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with analytic approach
- Flexibility, team spirit and diplomatic skills
