Project Coordinator Child Protection and (GBV) – (National contract)
The Programmed Coordinator is responsible for management and oversight of all of Save the Children’s Child Protection and GBV technical interventions to address violations of children’s rights and GBV in Mangalla IDP camp and ensure children and women are protected from abuse, exploitation, violence and neglect among internally displaced persons in Mangala IDP camp. The Programme Coordinator is responsible for ensuring quality programme activities at local level (in camps, entry points, and host communities – as per the specific location of assignment) and to develop the capacities of CP and GBV staff and Local Authorities. The Programme Coordinator will be expected to lead on case management of individual Child Protection and GBV cases, oversight of psychosocial support activities for Child Protection and GBV cases, support community Child Protection and GBV Committees, technical training and capacity building to all CP and GBV staff and incentive workers, and coordinate with Child Protection and GBV partners at camp level in line with Child Protection and GBV Minimum Standards.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Essential
- Education to Degree level in Social Work, Human Rights Law, International Relations, Development Studies or similar, or equivalent field experience.
- Prior experience of working within as an agency as a Programme Coordinator in an emergency response or fragile state OR participated with good results in the CP AoR CP coordination training or GBV training.
Previous experience of working in large-scale first phase emergency response
- Thorough knowledge of and experience in using the Minimum Standards for Child Protection and GBV in Humanitarian Action together with other established inter-agency standards and guidelines in child protection;
- Good knowledge of international human rights and humanitarian law, particularly concerning protection of IDPs and refugees;
- Extensive experience in capacity building and in strengthening various duty bearers understanding of and response to child protection and GBV;
- Demonstrated ability to set up monitoring & evaluation systems in large complex programmes;
- Experience of senior level representation;
- Experience of negotiating successful partnerships with institutional donors;
- Experience of working with and supporting government authorities and national NGOs;
- Excellent communication skills;
- Proven ability to influence change at an operational and strategic level;
- Politically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact and diplomacy;
- A high level of written and spoken English;
- The capacity and willingness to be extremely flexible and accommodating in difficult and sometimes insecure working circumstances;
- Commitment to and understanding of child rights and GBV and humanitarian standards such as the Sphere Charter and the Code of Conduct
Contract Duration: 11 Months
