Acted
For 30 years, Acted has been working on the front lines of humanitarian action to save lives. Acted supports more than 27 million people in 43 countries, responding to their needs in hard-to-reach areas, while pursuing a triple mandate as a humanitarian, environmental, and development actor. Acted draws on a deep understanding of local contexts to develop and implement long-term actions, in collaboration with a wide range of local and international partners, to collectively build a 3ZERO world: Zero Exclusion, Zero Carbon, and Zero Poverty.
Acted Haïti
Present in Haiti since 2004, Acted responds to emergencies and supports the recovery of populations in need, particularly in the areas of water, hygiene and sanitation, food security, and reconstruction. In collaboration with civil society and institutions, Acted also develops and implements programs focused on socio-economic development and climate change adaptation. Acted currently works in five departments in Haiti: Grand’Anse, Sud, Sud-Est, Ouest, and Centre, and will soon be operating in Nippes.
Regarding Acted’s major achievements in 2020-2021:
• 5,562 people received cash assistance to meet their priority needs
• 12 health centers were rehabilitated and supported to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic
• 35 water networks and infrastructure were rehabilitated to improve access to water, hygiene, and sanitation
• 1,125 people were rehoused through the reconstruction of their homes
• 394,532 people were made aware of COVID-19 prevention measures
Following the devastating earthquake of August 14, 2021, which struck the South, Grande Anse, and Nippes departments of Haiti, Acted is recruiting. Acted was one of the first humanitarian organizations to conduct rapid assessments to determine the extent of the damage and needs, and is already fully mobilized to provide emergency assistance to earthquake victims, working closely with Haitian authorities. Current activities include delivering drinking water, distributing hygiene kits, and carrying out sanitation and water network rehabilitation work. Other activities include distributing food, providing emergency financial aid, distributing essential goods, and, soon, establishing housing solutions for the most vulnerable people in 12 municipalities across the three departments.
