Educational Coordinator At PLAY International

PLAY International is seeking an educational coordinator for the deployment of a project in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo.

In this context, the pedagogical coordinator will be responsible for training sports facilitators in innovative pedagogies of education through sport in five communes of Kinshasa, where sports infrastructure will be rehabilitated.

The program will focus on the following themes:
• Promoting gender equality
• Combating gender-based violence
• Hygiene and reproductive health
• Inclusion of women in sports

The appointment is ideally scheduled for February-March 2026.

WHO ARE WE?
PLAY International is a French NGO founded in 1999 on a core belief: sport is a source of solutions to address our societal challenges. PLAY International’s primary mission is to design and implement education and inclusion projects for vulnerable children and young people, using sports as a pedagogical tool.
The NGO works on issues such as access to and retention in school, gender equality, community reconciliation, health prevention, and changing perceptions of disability. Since its inception, PLAY International has implemented educational and humanitarian projects in France and internationally, in more than 25 countries, benefiting nearly 1 million
children. PLAY International is a member of Groupe SOS. Today, the organization operates through six country offices in Burundi, Rwanda, France, Kosovo, the Comoros, and Senegal.

Responsibilities and Missions:
The Educational Coordinator is responsible for implementing the educational activities of the PLAY association. In this capacity, they will work on developing educational content, in conjunction with the educational advisor based in Paris. They will lead training sessions for project beneficiaries (facilitators, teachers, trainers,
coaches) and subsequently support partners and trainers to enable them to independently deliver the training.
The work location is Kinshasa. However, the Educational Coordinator position requires significant fieldwork in Kinshasa. Travel to other areas of the country for needs assessments will be required. Reporting to the Head of Mission, they will maintain functional relationships with the decentralized bodies of the various ministries with which PLAY collaborates, and with the partners implementing the activities.

The objectives of the position are:

Objective 1: Contribute to the development of educational content
– Participate in needs assessments and the definition of educational strategies.
– Organize collaborative educational creation workshops.
– Supervise pilot sessions.
– Write game sheets and presentation materials for external use.
– Participate in monthly educational coordination meetings organized by the PLAY educational coordinator to harmonize the association’s educational strategy and share best practices with the various teams.

Objective 2: Contribute to the organization of activities with the beneficiaries

– Drafting training plans for projects and developing training materials for supervisors (teachers, facilitators, coaches, educators, etc.), trainers of trainers, and partners.
– Facilitating or co-facilitating training sessions for participants.
– Evaluating training sessions and preparing training reports.
– Monitoring and supporting trainees in the field, developing a progression plan to enhance their skills, enabling them to eventually become qualified trainers and resource personnel for PLAY.
– Participating in program evaluation (developing pre/post questionnaires, monitoring indicators, etc.) using a results-based approach.
– Strengthening the capacity of project managers to delegate responsibilities (training, follow-up).
– Continuously documenting best practices and lessons learned within their area of ​​responsibility.

Objective 3: Contributing to the smooth operation of the PLAY mission
– Participating in PLAY team activities: internal information meetings, internal training sessions, and cross-functional working groups.
– Organizing events such as After Play, Pedagogical Cafés, and the Sport and Development Seminar.
– Participating in the coordination and monitoring of program activities, including narrative and financial reporting.
– Contributing to activity budgeting and program planning in collaboration with the relevant teams.
– Supporting the preparation of monitoring tools, meetings, and exchanges with partners.
– Potentially being asked to participate in other tasks depending on availability and the team’s workload.

Required skills

Experience, training

– Degree in Sports Science / Educational Sciences / Instructional Design
– At least 3 years of experience in sports training/coaching/education
– Mastery of basic skills in facilitation and active learning methods
– Experience in adult education
– Knowledge of local languages ​​(e.g., Lingala) is an asset
– Knowledge of gender issues is an asset

Contract type

– Contract + duration: 12-month fixed-term contract under local or French law (renewable)
– Salary: according to PLAY’s salary scale
