The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is seeking an Executive Director Office (EDO) Analyst with advocacy, fundraising and communications experience to support our Executive Director with delivering on GAIN’s influencing agenda and strategy. This position will be on a 3 years’ fixed term contract basis, subject to availability of funding. It is open to GAIN’s country offices in Delhi, Geneva, London and Nairobi.

The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is a Swiss-based foundation launched at the UN in 2002 to tackle the human suffering caused by malnutrition. Working with both governments and businesses, we aim to transform food systems so that they deliver more nutritious food for all people. In particular, we aim to make healthier food choices more desirable, more available, and more affordable. GAIN’s mission is to advance nutrition outcomes by improving consumption of nutritious and safe food for all people, especially the most vulnerable to malnutrition.
About the Role
Reporting to the Executive Director, you will be responsible for coordinating with the Senior Management team across GAIN.
The postholder will be critical in supporting GAIN’s influencing agenda, bringing in a variety of skills to identify, evaluate, analyse, and present qualitative and quantitative data across the full extent of the food system; and in supporting proposals to donors.
This role will require innovative thinking and new narratives about nutrition; scanning of the emerging ideas of partners and other actors in this space; interpreting GAIN’s strategy and helping to translate this into proposals and presentations; and supporting and co-creating with the EDO analysis.
Key Responsibilities include;
- Identifying, analysing, and organising information and briefing materials for the EDO to facilitate engagement in events and meetings
- Developing compelling, authoritative and evidence driven slides/presentations for a wide range of external and internal audiences
- Participate as appropriate in reports dissemination, via presentations, publications and other media as appropriate
- Representing GAIN during key industry discussions/presentations, while providing analysis, technical insights and disseminating lessons learnt
- Supporting the EDO internal communications strategy across GAIN. Facilitating the coordination, planning implementation and delivery of internal communications initiatives
- Developing and maintaining strong relationships with key partners and experts
About You
The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in advocacy, communications, external engagement and/or fundraising within an international INGO or CSO environment. You should have a proven track record in cultivating and developing relationships with key partners and engaging with donors.
The postholder will be able to demonstrate a strategic understanding and strong conceptual and analytical skills in the areas of food systems and nutrition or closely related domains. In addition to this, , you should have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively through oral and presentation skills in multicultural, multi-lingual environments as well as excellent and compelling writing skills.
Candidates with in-depth knowledge of the international development agenda with experience in global health/nutrition is preferable. A Master’s degree level in field relevant to food systems or equivalent work experience is desirable. You should be highly flexible and willing to travel as and when required.
About our Offer
The starting salary for each office is as follows, depending on experience:
- United Kingdom: From GBP 47,438 – GBP 50,844 per annum
- Switzerland: From CHF 104,004 – CHF 111,444 per annum
- India: From INR 1,699,368 – INR 1,944,456 per annum
- Kenya: From KES 4,058,496 – KES 4,639,992 per annum
GAIN has a fair and competitive salary structure that allows for annual progression subject to good performance.
