Bonyan is an independent non-governmental, non-profit organization concerned with the Syrian human beings. It started its activities in the city of Aleppo in 2014 and was registered in 2014 in Turkey.

Bonyan works to build human beings and their skills and to promote values through education and early recovery projects.

Purpose of the role:

The Chief Executive Officer is the link between the Board of Directors and the departments and program managers in Bonyan. He/ She regularly reports to the Board of Directors. The Chief Executive Officer also provides advice on the practical application of the vision of the Board of Directors based on his/her knowledge of the organization’s budget and resources and the experience of staff. He/ She leads the organization toward achieving its vision and strategic objectives and directs the various departments towards it while monitoring the achievement and the extent to which the desired goals are achieved.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

Manage and direct the grants provided by the United Nations and the grants of international organizations working in Syria.

Implement work within the organization’s vision and mission to ensure that services are provided to beneficiaries in an appropriate manner and in accordance with the standards and principles of humanitarian work.

Planning:

– Draft sub-objectives derived from the strategic objectives in coordination with department and program managers.

– Draft the annual financial budget with the organization’s Finance Department and the competent Partnerships Department.

– Identify and develop a list of potential and current donors to cover the expenses of the desired projects to achieve the organization’s objectives in coordination with the Partnerships Department.

– Approve the partnerships proposed by the Partnerships Department and Programs Department in coordination with the Board of Directors.

– Approve the human resources planning periodically with the Human Resources Department.

– Review the salary scale and wages proposed by the Human Resources Department and determine the annual increase policies within the organization’s general budget framework.

Organizing:

– Review and approve the operational plans of the administrative units and review their progress at least semi-annually.

– Review and approve agreements with donors.

– Review the organizational structure periodically and approve it in coordination with the Board of Directors.

-Ensure guiding the focal points of building partnerships and support identifying their priorities.

-Review and approve the capacity building and training plan proposed by the Human Resources Department.

– Monitor the progress of the strategic objectives through the achievement reports of the managers of the departments and programs.

– Represent the organization as required in its external environment and attend relevant meetings and conferences.

-Ensure that the organization complies with and adheres to local laws in coordination with the legal department.

– Contribute to building visual identity and reflecting the organization’s activity on its websites.

– Sign contracts with suppliers and employees, and ensure that they comply with local law and the organization’s policies.

– Issue administrative decisions and dismissal decisions in accordance with the policies of the organization.

-Build a strong network of relations with local stakeholders.

– Ensure the implementation of the policies and procedures adopted in the organization by the Board of Directors.

-Build a high-performing leadership team and play an effective role in attracting, retaining, and developing the best employees in their category, motivating them to work in a team spirit and continue to achieve the mission and vision of the organization.

– Facilitate the work of the committees assigned by the Board of Directors.

Leadership and Controlling:

– Supervise the managers of departments and programs and monitor their work progress as required periodically.

– Ensure feedback on the pros and cons of work.

– Find solutions to internal and external problems and challenges.

– Ensure the development of procedures and policies and follow up on their adoption with the Board of Directors.

The required academic qualification:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or equivalent.
  • 5-10 years of successful senior leadership experience in a social impact organization.
  • Full knowledge and expertise in the context of the humanitarian work of civil society organizations in Syria and Turkey.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office software and applications is required
  • Fluent in English, preferably with a general knowledge of the Turkish language.
