The Program
BEQUAL supports education priorities of the Government of Laos described in the Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES) Education Sector Development Plan and is aligned with the strategic directions set out in Australia’s Education Delivery Strategy. BEQUAL is designed to be implemented over a total of 10 years. Phase 1 has been extended until June 2022 which will be followed by Phase 2. BEQUAL continues to support MoES with the primary curriculum reform with a focus on primary curriculum development, teacher professional development and integration of inclusive education principles.
The Position
Reserved for Citizens of Lao PDR
The Primary Education Specialist is a member of the Primary Curriculum Development Team and works closely with international and national technical Lao Language specialists to support the MoES Research Institute for Educational Sciences (RIES) as they develop the new primary education curriculum.
The Person
The ideal candidate has a relevant tertiary qualification in primary education plus in-depth understanding of the Lao education system and context. You will have demonstrated understanding and experience in developing age appropriate teaching and learning materials, preferably for primary grades as well as working collaboratively with government counterparts and a sound knowledge of issues of inclusive education specifically related to gender, ethnicity and disability.
Along with effective interpersonal and communication skills, you will display self-motivation and the ability to work effectively as an individual or as part of a flexible, dynamic and culturally diverse team. Together with your good English proficiency (written and spoken), your ability to maintain a high standard of work and attention to detail, you will display strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks with attention to detail.
Experience teaching at primary school or similar teaching experience is desirable.
This position is locally engaged and reserved for National Citizens of Laos.
