  • The Driver reports to Head Travel and Administrative Service Section
    Responsibilities
    Vehicle and driving functions:
    •Driving the Agency staff to/from the Gaza Strip and within the Agency’s area of operations
    as directed;
    •Acting as the Agency’s official custodian of the vehicle assigned to him/ her;
    •Responsible for the efficient operation and cleanliness of the vehicle and the safety of its
    passengers and/or freight;
    •Registering, de-registering official vehicles as directed;
    Pouch, mail and transport:
    •Clearing and receiving pouches from Headquarters and area of operations;
    •Inspecting outgoing and incoming pouches to ensure compliance with established rules and
    regulations;
    •Transporting passengers and/or pouches to/from the Gaza Strip, the airport and the Allenby
    Bridge or other crossing point to Jordan and within the West Bank and Israel;
    •Delivering and collecting goods and mail in the area of operations;
    •Ensuring that the relevant transport documents are properly completed in accordance with
    instructions.
    Competencies
  • Ability to deal with VIPs, senior officials of international organizations and persons from a
    wide range of different cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to work in stressful circumstances.
    Education
  • Successful completion of full secondary education.
  • Possession of general basic knowledge of all types of vehicles.
  • Possession of valid national/international driving license, including bus license, recognized
    by local law.
    Work Experience
    At least four years experience as professional driver for passengers.
    A minimum of 2 continuous years of relevant international experience outside UNRWA, and
    outside the country(s) of which the candidate is a national or holds citizenship, a passport or a
    national identity number.
    Possession of valid national driving license for trucks (desirable)

  • Fluency in English
    Assessment
  • Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be
    followed by competency-based interview.
    Special Notice
  • Type of Contract and duration: 2 years, with the possibility of further extension
  • Knowledge of the operational environment in Israel, Gaza, West Bank and Jordan
    particularly related to the duties of the post.
  • Unrestricted ability to move in the Agency’s area of operations.
  • Work beyond regular hours will be required.
