Call for Applications: Gender and Social Inclusion Officer for a USAID-funded project in Uzbekistan

The East-West Management Institute, Inc. (EWMI) invites applications for a Gender and Social Inclusion Officer with its Judicial System Strengthening Activity (JSSA) in Uzbekistan, a four-year project funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented until September 2025. JSSA is divided into three components: Component 1 will strengthen the administration of justice by improving court and case management; Component 2 will strengthen the professionalism of the judiciary through enhanced training initiatives, and Component 3 will strengthen public trust in the judiciary. The following is a full-time, long-term (until September 2025) position based in Tashkent, beginning immediately. The position is open only to persons eligible to work in Uzbekistan.
The Gender and Social Inclusion Officer is responsible for assisting the Gender and Social Inclusion Expert and the Chief of Party in activities related to gender and social inclusion across the project. This full-time position reports to the Chief of Party (COP).
Duties and responsibilities:
- Assists the GESI Expert in mainstreaming gender and social inclusion considerations in all three components of JSSA, and in building the capacity of judicial institutions to adopt a gender-sensitive approach to justice;
- Assists the GESI Expert in tasks related to the organization of gender-related trainings and other capacity-building activities, including preparing training materials, agendas, and lists of participants;
- Assists the GESI Expert and COP in drafting and revising written outputs related to GESI, including activity reports, quarterly report inputs, data collection for AMELP and communications products, among other outputs;
- Supports data collection and analysis relating to gender, age, disability, and other social inclusion considerations of relevance to the project;
- Serves as a resource to JSSA staff on gender and social inclusion learning and technical knowledge;
- Supports the work of the COP on gender-related tasks; and
- Other related duties as requested.
Required qualifications:
- At least 4 years of experience in the field of gender promotion, gender mainstreaming, and advocacy related to gender equality and social inclusion;
- At least 4 years of experience working with state institutions, civil society organizations, and international organizations or other donors on related topics; experience with U.S. government-funded projects preferred
- Demonstrated extensive experience in building capacities of various stakeholders in the field of gender equality and social inclusion;
- Experience in applying gender-related concepts and tools, such as gender analysis, data disaggregation, gender-sensitive program design, etc.
- Bachelor’s degree in law, political science, international development, gender, human rights, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred;
- Strong organization and planning skills, proven experience supporting high-level events;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Positive attitude, attention to detail, flexibility to manage fast timelines and multiple work streams, and;
- Fluency in Uzbek, Russian, and English required.
