Position Overview

The Senior Technical Writer will be responsible for preparing Activity reports and deliverables for USAID. The Senior Technical Writer will work with the Chief of Party and MEL Manager to prepare Quarterly Performance Reports, the events calendar, the Annual Implementation Plans, and other program deliverables. They will have permanent interaction with the technical team and the communications team to identify the most relevant content to report in accordance with the Annual Implementation Plans and the Communications Plan with a focus on storytelling, impact, and results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Producing and editing high-quality reports within USAID established deadlines and as agreed with the consortium partners. Among others, the reports include quarterly performance reports, annual implementation plans, calendar of activities, strategic review reports, the Activity Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Plan (AMELP), Rapid Response Fund (RRF) weekly reports, and the final performance report.
  • Producing documents for official U.S. government visits, documents for USAID events, support for success stories, and any other reports required during program implementation.
  • Supporting the translation of subaward agreements memorandums of negotiation, and consulting agreement documents.
  • Organizing and keeping up-to-date files with the Activity deliverables.
  • Producing reports in English using established HRSM consortium and USAID formats, according to USAID marking and branding requirements.
  • Working closely with technical and cross-cutting leads, and the regional coordinators to ensure quality input and information flows.
  • Participating in technical activities and contributing to analytical framework reporting, when necessary, to better understand the operating context and Activity impact.
  • Overseeing translations required by the technical and management team to respond to USAID requirements.
  • Coordinating with the Chief of Party the report delivery schedule according to deadlines stipulated in the Cooperative Agreement and will periodically communicate progress.
  • Supporting the Rapid Response Lead in the translation of weekly Rapid Response Fund reports as needed.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Basic Requirements

  • BA in the social sciences, social work, law, psychology, or similar from an accredited university with at least five (5) years of professional experience in similar or related fields, or a Master’s degree with at least three (3) years of professional experience in similar or related fields.
  • Certificated C1 level of English or Native English speaker with excellent writing and communication skills in Spanish.
  • Must have experience translating technical documents from Spanish to English.
  • Commitment to developing high-quality written products that appropriately communicate Activity messages to various audiences, considering USAID’s needs, expectations, or requirements.
  • Able to write stories and communicate messages in different formats, such as tweets, success stories, and progress reports.
  • Flexible, creative, and able to work with minimal supervision, while meeting demanding deadlines.
  • Ability for teamwork and to communicate messages based on results and to highlight synergies between different Activity areas.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience in international cooperation preferred.
  • Strong preference for candidates located in Colombia.
