The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, working in more than 40 countries to provide appropriate, rights-based assistance to refugees, asylum seekers, internally displaced persons, returnees, and migrants. DRC has been present in Colombia since 2011, but in 2018 it expanded its operations in response to the Venezuelan crisis. Currently, DRC Colombia is implementing a protection-focused humanitarian response for Venezuelan refugees and migrants, as well as returning Colombians, in Colombian cities such as Riohacha, Barranquilla, and Bogotá. It is also currently expanding its activities to Nariño and Norte de Santander.
Job Overview : Provide support in information management (collection, transformation, analysis and visualization of information), ensuring the quality and timeliness of information according to the technical requirements and guidelines established in each of the programs executed in DRC.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure the correct implementation of DRC’s information management strategy in DRC Colombia’s programs.
- Manage online tools to access, collect, manage and visualize information such as Power Apps, Kobotoolbox/ODK, Forms, Power BI, etc.
- Provide support to program teams in the field nationwide on technical concepts regarding the processes of collecting, transforming, and analyzing information for programs in operation.
- Generate monitoring reports for the tools, contribute to developing formats for the presentation of already collected data, and perform data backups.
- Maintain and preserve the databases of all running DRC programs.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of strategies and data presentation.
- Contribute to improving data quality through monitoring and feedback.
- Automate the verification and validation of data integrity. Report any important issues and changes to your technical supervisor.
- Manage physical resources, keep them secure, up-to-date, and functioning properly using the forms created in the different tools used by the organization.
- Ensure proper handling of information on the PdI, performing duplication processes, identifying missing items, and following up with team leaders.
- Apply technical techniques and procedures for the analysis of data from programs executed by DRC.
- Ensure data protection and responsible data sharing according to DRC standard procedures.
- Support the implementation of the MERA strategy for DRC humanitarian programs.
- Manage information using specialized software for statistical data analysis (Orange, Python, R)
- Create maps of the organization’s areas of interest (QGIS- ArcGIS).
- Apply ethical and accountability frameworks and principles, including CHS, in accordance with DRC guidance
Experience and technical skills:
- Minimum 2 years of work experience in Information Management (collection, transformation, analysis and visualization of information) and desirable 1 year of experience in humanitarian issues, peace and development.
- A vocation for service to meet the needs of the programs.
- Ability to communicate technical ideas to program teams.
- Knowledge of design and layout of Dashboards and reports.
- Expert level of Excel handling (Tables, Pivot Tables, Power Query and Data Sources).
- Intermediate level of relational database management (SQL, Normal Forms and ER models).
- Knowledge of at least one data analysis programming language (Python or R).
- Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) (QGIS- ArcGIS)
Desired:
- Work experience in the humanitarian sector and data management for humanitarian protection.
- Moderate knowledge of handling massive data.
- Knowledge of handling unstructured information.
Professional education
in engineering, statistics, mathematics, software, or a person without formal studies proving their technical knowledge and humanitarian vocation
