GENERAL CONTEXT
Doctors Without Borders is an independent international medical and humanitarian organization that provides assistance to populations in distress, victims of natural or man-made disasters and victims of armed conflict, without discrimination and without distinction of race, religion, belief or political affiliation.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
Support the logistics coordination team according to assigned tasks and responsibilities; replace the logistics coordinator during their absences. In general, the deputy logistics coordinator collaborates with the logistics coordination team and participates in defining and implementing technical and logistical strategies and providing field support. This involves ensuring the relevance and coherence of logistics programs, the adequacy of the resources provided, and adherence to MSF standards and protocols to facilitate the establishment of the mission under optimal working conditions and maximize the impact of medical projects.
1. Security and safety risk management:
- Ensure proactive management of security and safety risks in collaboration with the operations department, by implementing mitigation strategies for the movement of personnel and goods, as well as for the protection of all sites, telecommunications, evacuation and winterization.
- Contribute to the updating and implementation of security and safety protocols, in particular risk analysis, SOPs (standard operating procedures) concerning movements, site protection, telecommunications, evacuation and winterization.
- Participate in the organization of regular safety briefings, debriefings and training for all staff, including logistics staff (how to react to certain identified threats, emergency management, etc.).
2. Infrastructure management and difficult working conditions:
- Supervise the construction or rehabilitation of infrastructure in very isolated areas, often with local materials, and in difficult working conditions (dust, extreme heat, limited access to water).
- Ensuring that facilities (hospitals, offices, housing, logistics and pharmaceutical warehouses) comply with safety, security and hygiene standards, even in a context where resources are often insufficient.
- Implement suitable storage solutions for sensitive products, such as vaccines, taking into account high temperatures and frequent power outages.
3. Support for emergency operations:
- Providing rapid and flexible logistical support in response to emergency or crisis situations (rapid assessments, setting up temporary or semi-permanent infrastructure).
- Adapting logistics strategies according to the specific operational needs of more or less unstable contexts or humanitarian crises in the Sahel.
4. Local capacity building and team management:
- Strengthening the capacities of local logistics teams through regular training and support on technical skills adapted to the Sahel context (supply chain management in conditions of scarcity, maintenance of equipment in remote areas).
- Managing the challenges of staff turnover in an unstable environment, by ensuring effective recruitment and organizing training sessions for new arrivals.
- Developing strategies to ensure the retention of key personnel in an environment where working conditions can be very difficult and where security risks are more or less high.
5. Monitoring and management of the flow of people and equipment:
- Supervise the deployment of missions in the field, ensuring effective management of personnel and equipment flows, including in contexts where transport is limited or risky (breakdowns, supply difficulties).
- Optimize resource management (vehicles, equipment, fuel) to limit the impact of logistical constraints on missions, particularly in areas where infrastructure is underdeveloped.
- Implementing flexible logistics solutions to ensure maximum efficiency while remaining responsive to emergencies.
SELECTION CRITERIA
- Essential: technical or logistics degree.
- Essential work experience of at least two (02) years in relevant and similar jobs at the coordination level.
- Experience with MSF or other NGOs in humanitarian contexts.
- Proficiency in office software (Excel, Word, Outlook) and logistics management software.
- Knowledge of storage, safety and transport standards.
- Ability to plan and monitor logistics flows (supply, distribution, inventories).
- Fluency in French, and an intermediate level of English is desirable.
CONDITIONS
- Position based in Bamako.
- 9-12 month commitment.
- Legal contract with full-time salary as assistant logistics coordinator (level 12 IRFFG).
- Start date: July 2026
