Job Overview:
The Enhanced Services Outreach Specialist is responsible for outreach services for the state-funded Enhanced Services for Asylees and Vulnerable Noncitizens (ESAVN) program for the IRC Turlock, San Jose, and Oakland offices. Specifically, the Outreach Specialist conducts community outreach to provide program information, receive referrals, and enroll eligible persons and screen referrals and implements new client orientations. The Enhanced Services is expected to stay connected with community partners and new resources for enrolled persons.
Major Responsibilities:
- Develop outreach materials, analyze the intended audience, research the best locations to encounter potential clients, and distribute materials;
- Build referral pathways with immigration attorneys and firms, raise awareness of case management services with immigration courts and USCIS, and conduct outreach to asylees and other vulnerable noncitizens;
- Meet with immigration attorneys, courts, and USCIS;
- Identify community groups, coalitions, and agencies to further outreach efforts;
- Support the waitlist, screenings, intake, assessment, and orientation to clients eligible for services;
- Provide both virtual and in-person, group and one-on-one orientations to case management services and assist clients in accessing case management by guiding them through the process;
- Ensure timely and accurate compliance to all reporting requirements and entry into databases;
- Participate in all program meetings, staff development activities, and fully engage as a member of the team;
- Follow all policies, procedures and protocols of the agency;
- Conduct outreach and develop new stakeholder relationships in effort to better support the ESAVN program;
- Other duties as assigned.
Key Working Relationships:
- Position reports Directly to Safety & Wellness Manager.
- Indirect Reporting To: San Jose, Oakland, and Sacramento Site Directors.
- Collaborates with ESAVN Caseworkers, interns and volunteers, Technical Advisors, internal IRC services, and external service providers and agencies including immigration attorneys, courts, and USCIS.
Job Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree in a related field; or a mix of equivalent years of education and related work experience;
- Two years of related professional work experience ideal (in addition to the above);
- Excellent communication skills with proficiency in English, both spoken and written; bilingual ability in one of the predominant languages of the local client base preferred;
- Proven success achieving goals and working effectively with all levels of staff in a multicultural environment;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook);
- Commitment to DEI principles and an inclusive work environment;
- Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle with current insurance, and the ability to travel regularly throughout the service delivery area.
Working Environment:
- Standard, professional office environment and remote work;
- This position will work both from the IRC office in Turlock, Modesto, and regular travel to off-site locations is required.
- Office hours are scheduled as Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm; some evening and weekend events required;
