About us:

The Omran Center is a public policy think tank and development center, established in 2013 and currently headquartered in Damascus. It forms the knowledge-policy program of the Syrian Forum, an independent, non-governmental organization working on Syrian affairs. The Center’s work extends beyond producing knowledge and policy papers; it directly contributes to designing practical and applicable policy solutions that support decision-makers in addressing complex security, development, political, and social challenges. The Center fulfills its role by producing in-depth and cumulative analyses, fostering societal dialogue, and engaging technically with state institutions and stakeholders, thereby contributing to stability, state-building, institutional effectiveness, and community empowerment. The Center operates through a broad network of researchers and experts both within and outside Syria, engaging professionally and technically with state institutions and decision-makers, which strengthens its role in developing public policies and supporting the national transformation process.

First: Job objective

Leading, designing, and implementing strategic research and studies, and producing high-quality applied knowledge based on scientific methodologies, in order to support decision-makers and contribute to the development of public policies in accordance with the center’s research agenda, while contributing to the development of evidence-based initiatives and programs.

Second: Job Information

  • Location: Damascus Governorate.
  • Start date: Live.
  • Probation period: 3 months.
  • Commitment: Full-time employment.

Third: Tasks and Duties

  • Leading, designing, and implementing research projects and developing their methodologies.
  • Conducting and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data and developing analytical frameworks.
  • Preparing in-depth studies, policy papers, and strategic reports.
  • Supervising and guiding the research team and ensuring the quality of the outputs.
  • Managing and monitoring the implementation of research projects and internal and external coordination.
  • Supporting the direction of the research agenda and enhancing influence on public policy.
  • Preparing progress reports and contributing to research and media activities.
  • Preparing and reviewing research content and formulating recommendations directed to decision-makers.
  • Building and managing relationships with experts and stakeholders, and representing the center inside and outside Syria.

Fourth: Academic qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, with preference given to Master’s and PhD degrees in one of the following related disciplines: ( Political Science / International Relations / Economics / International Trade / Humanities and Social Sciences) .

Fifth: Research and knowledge competencies

  • Knowledge of the Syrian issue, its political, economic and social contexts, and its internal, regional and international transformations.
  • High ability to design studies, formulate research questions, and build hypotheses, while developing analytical frameworks and conceptual models for interpreting complex phenomena.
  • Advanced skills in analyzing public policies and providing evidence-based recommendations, conducting literature reviews and linking them to the applied context.
  • Advanced knowledge of theories and approaches in the disciplines of politics, economics, international relations and governance, and familiarity with quantitative and qualitative scientific research methodologies and methods of combining them.
  • Advanced academic and writing skills, with the ability to simplify concepts and transform them into usable outputs for decision-makers.
  • Proven track record in research publications and fluency in both Arabic and English.
