Program Officer Job Description:
The Program Officer shall be the vehicle for the maintenance of consistency and continuity of ABA ROLI programming. He/she shall have both programmatic and administrative responsibilities. Reports to directly to legal specialists, Country Director or Project Director. May supervise support staff and interns on a project basis, with Country Director or Program Director approval.
RESPONSIBILITES:
- Responsible for day-to-day administrative tasks related to Malaysia;
- Work with legal specialists, Country Director, or program manager to develop and implement programs;
- As requested, contribute to ABA ROLI monthly and quarterly reports, work plans, update articles and other ABA ROLI publications;
- Provide technical insight and support to proposal/new business development opportunities.
- Plan workshops, potentially including their logistical arrangements, as requested;
- Monitor legal and political developments, reporting them to legal specialists, Country Director, or program manager;
- Builds and maintains effective relationships with a range of program stakeholders and partner organizations to fulfill program objectives within specific budget and cost constraints;
- As requested, represent ABA ROLI at meetings with local partners or members of the international community;
- Ensures personal and program compliance with applicable anti-corruption laws.
- Maintains professional linkages with volunteers, legal specialists, and consultants;
- Provide support to other ABA ROLI programs, promote, and represent the program and perform other related duties as required;
- Translate and interpret, as requested;
- As requested, participate in ABA ROLI Annual Meetings;
- And other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- University degree in law, human rights, global affairs, public policy, international relations, or another relevant field;
- Minimum of 3 years working experience in human rights, public interest law, or a related field.
- Willing to travel within Malaysia or on occasions, overseas;
- Legal ability to work in Malaysia;
- Fluency in English and at least one other Malaysian language;
- Team player and able to mentor other staff in developing skills;
- Integrity and adherence to high ethical standards.;
- Flexibility to modify plans and behavior when necessary to meet a goal.
