Doctors Without Borders, an international humanitarian medical association created in 1971, provides medical assistance to populations whose lives are threatened: mainly in cases of armed conflict, but also epidemics, pandemics, natural disasters or exclusion from care.
As part of a 24-month work-study contract (professional training or apprenticeship), we are looking for a work-study student to support the entire Pool & Career Management department:
The Operations Department of the Paris Operations Center (OCP) comprises eight Operational Units, including an Emergency Unit, each managing a portfolio of countries. The Pool and Deployment Management Service supports operations by providing appropriate human resources for field deployments based on needs, availability, skills, and the willingness of pool members (groups of international mobile personnel recruited and assembled by sector/profession).
Mission
The Pool & Course Management Department consists of 14 people. The department’s objectives are as follows:
- Deploy the resources and propose the necessary HR actions to develop the sectors, to bring forth and develop managers, in line with the evolution of operational needs (quantity and quality of profiles).
- To build and consolidate the career paths of members of the sectors in order to meet the human resource needs of OCP missions.
Main activities
As a service support specialist, under the direct supervision of the Service Manager and in close collaboration with the Service Support & Tools Focal Point and the Pool & Path Management (GP) officers, you will contribute to the smooth operation of the service at the following levels:
Human Resources Management – ​​MSF International Staff:
- Support for updating the HR database (Ligo):
- Create new profiles in the HR database (Ligo)
- Update the records and the progress tracking
- Keeping information up-to-date: regular contact to update availability and CVs, scheduling follow-up emails for specific assignments, and maintaining contact with recruits awaiting assignments.
- Update information for mission proposal and confirmation communications
- To carry out the “scaling” of international mobile staff, that is to say to evaluate and weigh their past experiences according to their relevance to the missions they will carry out at MSF.
- Other tasks may be requested.
Support au Service :
- Participate in updating the service’s reference documents
- Write meeting minutes
- Compilation of “PAP” (Positions to be Vacated) before sending to the department assistant
- Other similar tasks may be requested.
Communication and statistics:
- Briefings for newly recruited interns in the departments with which the department collaborates
- Contribute to the monitoring and compilation of service statistics
- Contribute to the development of service presentations
- Contribute to the design and updating of the team and department’s SharePoint site.
- Other tasks may be requested.
Background information:
- Develop a presentation on a cross-cutting topic related to the department’s activities (to be defined based on the intern’s profile and interests) and related to their subject of study.
Desired profile
Education: You are currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree (BAC + 3/5) in Human Resources Management or International Solidarity Project Management, and you have a strong interest in the humanitarian sector and/or Human Resources.
Essential skills:
- Excellent writing skills in French and English
- Excellent computer skills (Office Suite, especially Excel) and O365 environment (Teams, SharePoint)
Required qualities :
- Demonstrated interest in the International Solidarity sector.
- You demonstrate autonomy, curiosity, creativity and are proactive.
- You demonstrate good interpersonal and adaptability skills
- You are meticulous with analytical skills and good prioritization abilities.
- You have a sense of discretion and respect confidentiality.
Status and conditions
- Two-year work-study contract (apprenticeship or professional training depending on profile).
- Position based in Paris.

- Remuneration from 43% to 100% of the minimum wage depending on age and level of education.
- Supplementary health insurance fully covered by MSF.
- Meal vouchers with a face value of €12 (60% covered by MSF).
- Coverage of 50% of public transport subscription (weekly, monthly or annual) or bicycle mileage allowance (€0.25 per km, limited to €450 per year).
