About CRD
Connecting Research to Development (CRD) is a research think tank that operates in the support, generation, and dissemination of evidence-based research from the combined perspectives of public health and social science in MENA, Central Asia, and Eastern Europe. Functional since 2000 under the name of Société de Recherche et d’Environnement (SRSE), CRD was officially established in 2014 in Beirut, Lebanon. In close cooperation with its partners, the specific goal is to apply scientific innovative know-how and to transform evidence-based data into programmatic actions. Universities, local organizations, international institutions, and government ministries rely thereby on CRD’s expertise and deep understanding of the research environment.
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum of a Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Social Studies, Public Policy, Political Science, Economics, or similar fields with a strong qualitative and quantitative components is a must;
- At least 7 years of working experience in research, humanitarian, and development sectors;
- Targeted expertise in social research, particularly education, gender, child/social protection, youth, human rights, women empowerment;
- Additional expertise in at least one of the following areas: livelihoods, social cohesion and stability, or refugee communities and migration;
- Proven experience of working with a variety of statistical software like R, SAS, STATA, SPSS, etc, and proven ability to manipulate and present data by using standard tabulation and statistical software packages;
- Proven experience of working with qualitative analysis software like Atlas, NVivo, Dedoose, etc.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience working in Lebanon is a plus;
- Excellent verbal, written, analytical, and organizational skills;
- Collaborative and constructive team member;
- Ability to meet tight deadlines, multitask, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and work in a fast-paced environment;
- Fluency in written and oral English.
Examples of Tasks
- The researcher’s focus in qualitative and quantitative research, working with both the statistical team and social research team.
- Conduct and lead quantitative and qualitative research including literature review, research design, tool design, analysis and discussion, and generation of recommendations, with a programmatic focus;
- Investigate, analyse, and interpret data using accepted statistical techniques in quantitative methods and qualitative approaches in qualitative studies;
- Recommend and develop methodological approaches including statistical and qualitative approaches for use in analyses;
- Prepare quantitative analysis plans and write detailed specifications for analysis files, consistency checks, tables, and figures;
- Prepare qualitative analysis plans including development of code book, matrices, and the use of qualitative analysis software;
- Provide clear written and verbal summary interpretations of statistical and qualitative analyses conducted;
- Conduct monitoring and evaluation studies;
- Assist in the coordination of field team;
- Lead training on new projects and research tools with field teams;
- Assist in business development including conceptualization of new research studies, proposal writing, and strategic planning;
- Organize project files, data, and documents;
- Attend meetings with project partners;
- Strengthen team dynamics;
- Develop articles for publication;
- Undertake continuing professional development and participate in national and international workshops;
- Establish collaborative links with international professional organizations.
This post will report directly to the CRD CEO, Deputy for Program Management, and Head of Research.
