As the Financial Specialist – Special Projects and Major Grants (DRA + Other Projects) youwill be responsible for managing project financial planning, budgeting, and reporting to ensure effective and compliant use of funds. It involves leading budget development and revisions, preparing accurate forecasts, tracking expenditures, and ensuring timely fund disbursement to partners. The position supports strong financial oversight through regular spending analysis, reconciliation, and compliance monitoring while maintaining accurate financial data in systems. It also includes coordinating partner reporting, conducting financial reviews, and resolving reporting issues. Additionally, the role manages PBAS commitments, supports audits and donor requirements, and collaborates closely with internal teams, partners, and stakeholders to ensure transparency, accountability, and alignment with organizational and donor standards.
Requirements include:
- First degree in Accounting or Finance. A professional qualification such as ACCA or CIMA will be an advantage.
- Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in a grant management role in NGO environment.
- In-depth working knowledge of accounting software packages, especially Sun Systems, Vision XL and Vision Executive.
- Excellent computer literacy skills, especially in MS Excel.
- In-depth working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the WVI FPP.
- In-depth working knowledge of grant accounting.
- Knowledge of how to prepare, review, and present financial statements and financial reports.
- Able to perform complex financial analyses
- Able to articulate and communicate ideas well verbally and in writing
