Mission

Geneva Call is a neutral and impartial non-governmental organization dedicated to promoting respect by armed groups and de facto authorities (DGAs) for international humanitarian standards in armed conflicts and other situations of violence, particularly those related to the protection of civilians. Geneva Call focuses its efforts on prohibiting the use of anti-personnel mines, protecting children from the effects of armed conflict, prohibiting sexual violence in armed conflict, eliminating gender discrimination, protecting civilian infrastructure, and ensuring humanitarian access.

Why this position?

The MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning) Assistant will contribute to the effective implementation of monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning strategies within Geneva Call in the DRC.

Workplace relationships

The incumbent will work under the supervision of the MEAL Coordinator on MEAL issues for Geneva Call programs. He/she will collaborate closely with program teams, partner CSOs, consultants, surveyors, and beneficiary communities.

Role and responsibilities

Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting

  • Support project cycle management and implement MEAL plans and tools (monitoring indicators, data collection, databases, surveys and Baseline, Midline, Endline evaluation).
  • Design collection tools and contribute to the definition of indicators, logical frameworks and project targets.
  • Collect, enter, analyze data and produce regular reports for performance monitoring and donors.
  • Ensure the quality, consistency and visualization of data (controls, dashboards, geospatial analyses).
  • Coordinate with teams and partners, participate in surveys, field visits, and meetings to improve projects and share best practices. Ensure the implementation of MEAL plans, indicator tracking tools, and other relevant MEAL tools for GC projects.

Accountability and MGP

  • Establish, in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs), the community complaints and feedback management mechanism
  • Supporting the implementation of various community engagement and feedback mechanisms within the framework of accountability
  • Supporting partner CSOs in setting up community accountability and feedback mechanisms
  • Record and track complaints in accordance with the SOP and process them in a timely, secure, and responsible manner.
  • Supporting the Program teams in organizing accountability workshops for beneficiary communities

Learning & Capitalization

  • Systematically document lessons learned and successes/achievements and failures generated by the implementation of projects/programs and during review workshops to improve future projects
  • Write case studies, success stories, and capitalization reports
  • Organize and facilitate meetings or workshops for reflection and sharing of lessons learned with the Geneva Call program teams.
  • Sharing lessons learned with communities, partners and stakeholders and formulating data-driven recommendations to adapt programming

Partnerships

  • Train staff from Geneva Call’s partner CSOs on the use of data collection and analysis tools and the integration of gender and intersectionality into interventions
  • Develop and harmonize monitoring tools (matrices, data collection forms) to ensure data consistency between partners and the Geneva Call organization
  • Conduct supervisory missions to verify the quality of information collected by partners and make corrections where relevant
  • Ensure the implementation and proper functioning of complaint management, feedback and information return mechanisms in the areas of intervention of partners.
  • Compile monthly/quarterly reports from partners, assist in the analysis of indicators and promote the capitalization of lessons learned.

Communication/ Media

  • Collect qualitative and quantitative data to develop evidence-based case studies, key impacts, success stories, and activity reports.
  • Transforming raw data into tangible evidence of impact.
  • Documenting project successes and testimonials while ensuring fact-based visibility
  • Ensure the periodic completeness of the GC Success Story Documentation Template

Criteria

Education

  • University degree (Bachelor’s +3 or Master’s +5) in rural development, law, sociology, statistics, computer science, economics, political science, or any other equivalent degree in the social field

Professional Experience

  • Proven professional experience of at least 3 years in the field of monitoring, evaluation, learning and accountability and database management of humanitarian projects
  • At least 2 to 3 years of experience in implementing MEAL frameworks, collecting field data, and monitoring project indicators
  • Experience in conducting surveys, focus groups and interviews with strong synthesis and analytical skills, and in writing reports and life reviews.
  • Experience in database management, data cleansing, and producing high-quality reports
  • Experience in setting up and supporting beneficiary feedback and complaint mechanisms
  • Prior experience within international or national NGOs is highly desirable

Job-related skills

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), QGIS mapping software, Power BI data visualization software, and others
  • Proven experience in designing electronic forms (KoboCollect, ODK, ONA, Akvo flows), data import (Excel, SQL, Cloud), and quantitative/qualitative data cleaning and analysis (Excel, Invivon, SPSS, or equivalent).
  • Excellent skills in programming and field use of survey and data collection tools (including other digital tools)
  • Rigour, autonomy, organisation, respect for deadlines, ability to work under pressure and in multicultural contexts such as that of Ituri

Languages ​​(essential)

  • Excellent level of French (spoken and written)
  • Knowledge of English
  • Fluency in Kiswahili and Lingala spoken in Ituri
