HEAD OFFICE – Asia Programs Intern (M/F) At La Chaîne de l’Espoir

ABOUT THE CHAIN ​​OF HOPE

Chain of Hope is an international NGO founded in 1994. Its mission is to strengthen health systems to give everyone, and especially children, the same chances of survival and development.
We work in 28 countries using a comprehensive approach, centered on the child but also on mothers and disadvantaged communities.

  • Prevention and screening from a very young age, particularly within the framework of school health programs.
  • Care and surgery, in order to meet the most urgent needs of children and their mothers.
  • Training and skills transfer to local teams through our international network of experts in all areas of surgery.
  • Construction and equipping of hospital facilities adapted to local needs.

The intern will provide support to the Head of the Asia Department and to the program coordinators in charge of the following countries: Afghanistan, Cambodia, India, Laos, Nepal, Vietnam.

The internship, aside from the tasks outlined in the job description, primarily involves providing support for ad hoc requests from headquarters or field offices. Depending on their skills, the intern may also be involved, to varying degrees, in different cross-functional projects related to the implementation of La Chaîne de l’Espoir’s initiatives.

COURSE PERIMETER

Under the supervision of the Program Coordinators working on the Asia hub programs, the intern will have the following tasks:

A – Assist in the implementation of administrative, logistical and internal communication tasks

Administrative and monitoring tasks:

  • Preparation for missions abroad: communication with medical and paramedical experts regarding mission organization, logistics (visas, plane tickets, accommodation, etc.) in conjunction with the purchasing/logistics department, and verification of expense reports.
  • Preparation of summary notes
  • Support for organizing Asia Desk meetings
  • Drafting meeting minutes
  • Preparation and signing of documents
  • Drafting various letters to partners
  • Preparation of various documents (partnership agreements and/or cooperation agreements in particular)
  • Documentary research on specific topics
  • Support in the translation of English/French documents

Communication:

  • Drafting project sheets and contributing to the annual report
  • Writing case study sheets, children’s sheets (for children in need of surgery), etc.
  • Writing articles for the website, assisting with writing text for social media
  • Creation and updating of communication tools
  • Internal communication between different departments

B – Support in the management and monitoring of projects

Project management support:

  • To monitor the intervention contexts in the area and the opportunities for project development
  • Participation in the development of terms of reference for medical missions, evaluation, etc.
  • Participation in the development and review of project proposals
  • Contribution to the drafting of interim and final reports
  • Contribution to the implementation of project monitoring and evaluation tools

Writing and capitalization:

  • Participation in the consolidation of experiences and development of standard documents enabling learning and improvement of actions
  • Consolidation of monitoring and evaluation tools: fact sheets, database, questionnaires
  • Participation in the collection of indicators and improvement of the monitoring methodology

PROFILE SOUGHT

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Master’s student in International Humanitarian Relations, Development and Cooperation, Political Science and Institutes of Political Studies

  • Prior experience or knowledge in project management, either at headquarters or in the field, is preferred.

COMPETENCES & APTITUDES

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work in a team and with multiple stakeholders
  • Adaptability, versatility and autonomy
  • Dynamism, responsiveness, stress resistance, ability to work on several projects simultaneously
  • Excellent writing skills and rigorous drafting (French and English), analytical and summarization skills
  • Proficiency in computer tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Canva)
  • Strong motivation to work in humanitarian aid and knowledge of humanitarian actors and the international cooperation environment
  • Knowledge of/interest in medical humanitarian work is an asset

CONDITIONS

  • 6-month internship agreement
  • Internship date: August 24, 2026
  • Full-time internship, based at the association’s headquarters at 56 rue des Morillons 75015 Paris
  • Teleworking policy: up to 2 days per month after the first month
  • Compensation: €4.50 / hour (according to the legal scale and based on 35 hours / week)
  • Meal vouchers worth €12.10 covered at 60%
  • 50% reimbursement of transport pass or sustainable mobility allowance (bike) of 45 euros/month
