Fenix’s vision is that every person who has been forced to flee has real and dignified access to the right to asylum. Our mission consists of three interconnected Programs, aimed at positively impacting the cases of people who seek safety, other actors providing support to asylum seekers, and the Greek and European asylum systems at large. All our work is underpinned by our holistic philosophy, providing tools for empowerment with an integrated, trauma-informed and person-centred approach that considers the general well-being, needs, skills and hopes of individuals in their search for safety.
The Role
Many people who arrive on Lesvos do not have proper access to information or legal aid before going into their asylum interview. Based on our conviction that knowledge is the most important tool for empowerment, Fenix works to fill this gap by providing legal information sessions to asylum seekers. Moreover, we train other actors on the asylum procedure to ensure enhanced service provision. The International Legal Officer will:
- Provide legal information sessions to people seeking asylum
- Conduct outreach for the information sessions
- Arrange the logistics of the information sessions
- Provide capacity bridging training on the asylum procedure to other actors
- Support with the screening of potential new clients
- Support with background research for other teams
- Start date: 06/06/2023
Fenix prides itself for always adapting to the changing context and needs, and tasks may change during the time of the agreement.
