Purpose of Project and Background

To support the IFRC Asia Pacific Regional Office communications unit in delivering on the following:

  1. Social media
  2. Branding
  3. Support the management of the communications database, including media contacts

The Communications Intern will ensure speedy, high-quality, coherent, and well-coordinated communications services across programs in the IFRC Asia Pacific Regional Office. S/ he provides technical support in boosting IFRC APRO’s social media presence, branding, audio-visual production and database management. The role will assist in supporting media and enhancing the profile of the IFRC and member societies in the region.

Duties and responsibilities:

  1. Identify social media trends that the APRO could utilize to disseminate further the results of its work around the region, including identifying the right content for which social media platform
  2. Monitor National Societies’ social media channels for materials to be shared via regional channels.
  3. Provide input in social media posts and audio-visual materials in collaboration with the regional team’s input
  4. Support the branding activities of APRO units and offices
  5. Manage the upload and cataloging of photos, videos, and key messages for the APRO.
  6. Assist with collating and disseminating activities of youth and volunteer groups in the region onto the IFRC digital management system.
  7. Update the existing Media database and link it to other existing data management tools of the IFRC, such as shaRED, FedNet, and websites from NSs of the region.

Deployment conditions and duration

  • Office environment. April-October 2023 (i.e., 6 months).

  • Regional Communications Manager

Qualifications

  • In Graduate Studies preferred, as part of the internship requirement in university.
  • Bachelor’s level also welcome to apply

Experience

  • Good knowledge and relevant work experience in the regional context (Required)

  • Fluently spoken and written English (Required)

Remarks: Intern allowance CHF 400/ month

Requirement: Currently-enrolled in a university or have graduated recently (normally within 1 year from the date of hiring)
