1. Tearfund CAR Background

Tearfund resumed operations in the Central African Republic (CAR) in 2014, following an initial presence that began in 1978. Our humanitarian response addresses critical vulnerabilities through WASH, livelihoods, and peacebuilding initiatives. Since 2018, we have implemented community-led projects for social cohesion and women’s economic empowerment, equipping women with literacy, numeracy, and vocational skills while transforming social norms. Today, our vision for CAR is to meet community needs, respond to emergencies, and restore relationships through a strengthened network of partners and churches. Our 2024-2027 Strategy focuses on five integrated objectives: emergency response, basic needs (Food and WASH), transforming gender norms, building resilient livelihoods, and promoting peacebuilding and social cohesion.
