Job purpose:
Under the supervision of the Team Lead, the Project officer supports the day-to-day implementation of World Vision’s Education in Emergencies activities under the ECHO-funded multisectoral action ‘Multisectoral Support for the Most Vulnerable Populations in Syria in Aleppo Governorate. The Officer works closely with the Team Lead, WASH Engineer, Protection Coordinator and MEAL team to ensure that education activities in the targeted schools are delivered with high technical quality, on schedule, and in full compliance with ECHO requirements and World Vision’s programmatic and safeguarding standards. The Education Officer manages day-to-day field implementation, provides logistical and administrative support, and conducts regular follow-up with the assigned team to monitor progress across all project areas.
Major Responsibilities
- Activity:
1- Project Implementation and Planning:
- Implement education field activities based on the weekly and monthly work plan, and visit schools and relevant authorities as outlined in the plan.
- Document implemented activities in line with the project logframe, budget and donor requirements.
- Follow up on financial documentation and procurement with the relevant departments until invoices are fully closed.
- Implement project activities based on the relevant plan and budget agreed with the Team Lead and Project Manager.
- Prepare and submit Purchase Requests (PRs) and, where relevant, BOQs, based on the approved budget framework, for endorsement by the Team Lead.
- Provide daily coordination with the field team, WASH Engineer and MEAL team to ensure efficient, high-quality and integrated delivery of activities.
- Review and evaluate education activities and their linkages with other project components (WASH, protection).
- Identify implementation challenges and propose practical solutions to the Team Lead.
- Coordinate with relevant World Vision departments to ensure efficient support to field implementation.
- Conduct regular visits to project sites to monitor the quality of activities and services delivered.
- Document all activities in line with donor requirements.
- Report directly to the Team Lead, providing daily updates on activity progress.
- Prepare timely and accurate progress updates, and monthly, quarterly and final reports on activity implementation and achievements.
2- Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting:
- Support the timely and coordinated implementation of M&E activities, in close collaboration with the MEAL team.
- Seek technical guidance from World Vision technical staff, as required, to ensure activities meet relevant programmatic and M&E standards.
- Carry out regular field monitoring visits to track implementation progress against the approved proposal, and document lessons learned.
- Document lessons learned and support adaptive management and corrective actions.
- Maintain quality documentation (assessment and progress reports, program plans) on SharePoint or in hard-copy filing, in line with World Vision and donor requirements.
3- Networking:
- Maintain regular liaison with schools, Education Directorates and local authorities to ensure activities are well-coordinated.
- Prepare MoUs and other coordination documents as required.
- Represent the project in relevant education working group meetings and other coordination fora to ensure effective networking with authorities and other actors in the sector.
- Child Protection
- Support the identification, reporting and referral of existing and potential child protection concerns affecting children engaged in project activities.
- Comply fully with, and support partners’ compliance with, World Vision’s Child Protection Policy and Code of Conduct
4- Child Protection:

5- Perform other duties as assigned by the Team Lead or Project Manager.
Knowledge/Qualifications for the Role
Required Professional Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with specific experience in Education in Emergencies project implementation.
Required Education, training, license, registration, and certification:
- A university degree or diploma in business administration, social sciences, psychology, sociology, public administration, or any other relevant field.
- Additional certifications in project coordination, facility management, humanitarian operations, or protection principles are highly desirable.
- Training in safeguarding, child protection, or gender-based violence (GBV) is an asset.
- Demonstrated knowledge of ECHO, humanitarian standards, Sphere, or Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS) is preferred.
- Prior engagement with NGOs, UN agencies, or community-based organizations is an advantage.
Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications:
- Excellent communication skills.
- Skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Motivated to work in humanitarian field and grow professionally, eager and quick to learn
- Experience working on projects funded by international donors, preferably ECHO or other EU institutional donors.
- Sound understanding of Children’s Rights, Child Protection, Participation and Do No Harm principles.
- Demonstrated adherence to the Child Protection Policy, Red Cross Code of Conduct and NGO Code of Conduct.
- Working knowledge of the Logical Framework Approach.
Language Requirements:
- Fluent Arabic and working proficiency in English (spoken and written).
Travel and/or Work Environment Requirement:
- The position requires 100% of the time to be field-based.
- Position requires willingness and ability to continue functioning during a crisis, including during a World Vision response to a man-made or natural disaster.Local Applicant only
