Chain of Hope is an international NGO founded in 1994. Its mission is to strengthen health systems to give everyone, and especially children, the same chances of survival and development. We work in 25 countries using a comprehensive approach, centered on the child but also on mothers and disadvantaged communities.

The Infrastructure and Biomedical Department of Chaîne de l’Espoir is responsible for all hospital projects involving the study and implementation of programs that include medical and surgical infrastructure and equipment. Expertise in hospital engineering is essential to the development of our organization’s activities.
POSITION AND MISSION
La Chaîne de l’Espoir is recruiting a Hospital Building Project Manager to support and strengthen its infrastructure team, which currently comprises three biomedical engineers, two engineers specializing in technical packages and all building trades, and a technical coordinator. The role involves monitoring ongoing projects and identifying potential future projects.
Reporting to the Infrastructure and Biomedical Department, and under the direction of the Department Head, the incumbent will support operations and contribute to the development of its tools. Hierarchical and operational supervision of the position will be provided by the Head of the Infrastructure and Biomedical Department.
The position is divided into several areas of work in the countries where Chaîne de l’Espoir operates:
Audit and evaluation of sites in the hospital planning phase
Hospital project management
Feasibility and technical monitoring of studies and works
Strengthening the skills of local teams
Maintenance & Operation
MAIN ACTIVITIES
Audit and evaluation of sites in the hospital programming phase
Technical mission to various countries to assess hospital and university sites and buildings,
To be the technical expert for program teams and institutions
Contribution to the quality approach: implement and update procedures and instructions specific to the technical field of hospital buildings.
Participate in the development of the establishment’s master plan
Participating in the technical programming for hospital projects
Hospital project management
Costing and economic analysis of projects in support of medical programmers.
To be the primary point of contact for the funder and the guarantor of the project regarding cost, time, and quality indicators on the technical side
Manage and monitor the project contract (planning, resource anticipation, expense tracking, corrective actions, etc.).
Anticipating the needs for the preparation of international administrative files for future construction projects
Animation and guidance of the technical project team and supervision of the work of the various experts in the building trades (electricity, structure, facade, HVAC) subcontractors or volunteers.
Quality control and technical requirements of the building project and its compliance with the medical program and applicable regulations.
Selection of service providers for projects in the study and construction phases
Coordination of subcontractor teams for the preparation of technical and architectural files (French and/or international).
Support for the business lawyer in assessing potential impacts in terms of risks.
Strengthening the skills and providing technical support to local partner teams.
Creation of Gantt charts (MS Project type) for planning study and construction operations
To be the technical expert for all hospital building projects in the design and study phases.
Control and monitoring of technical files and local teams in the implementation of hospital building projects
Technical monitoring of studies and works
Participate in or lead study, coordination and site meetings depending on the local teams available for the projects.
Monitoring compliance of execution with the contract file and proposing corrective action plans in case of discrepancies found.
Preparation of technical responses within the framework of funding applications or calls for tenders (methodological notes, technical argument notes for example, estimation of time to be spent, planning).
Participation in and analysis of company bids, including report writing to finalize the selection of partners.
Minor modifications to architectural and technical plans in AutoCAD & Revit may be necessary depending on the urgency of the situation.
Coordination and contractual management of subcontractor teams for the development of technical design and architectural files (French and/or international).
Monitoring compliance of execution with the contract file and proposing corrective action plans in case of discrepancies found.
Strengthening the skills of local teams
Support and advice to strengthen the skills of local teams.
Development of specific job-related training programs based on needs
Identifying possible training programs to ensure skills development in the field.
Animation and strengthening of the volunteer network to support missions on partner sites.
Participate in the technological monitoring of international teams
Maintenance & Operation
Monitoring the operational status of specific equipment and installations in our partner hospital facilities
Supporting teams in monitoring, planning and carrying out maintenance of equipment and systems
Capitalizing on hospital projects within the framework of studies and construction to consolidate and adapt our intervention strategies, particularly on a technical level
TRAINING AND SKILLS
Education / Experience:
With a Master’s degree (BAC+5) in Architecture or Engineering, you have a minimum of 5 years of successful experience in hospital architecture or engineering, working on new construction and renovation projects across all trades, with strong management skills. Experience on international projects would be an asset.
Skills and abilities:
Good cross-functional knowledge of the building industry, from design to maintenance and operation.
Interest in the international solidarity sector and public health issues
Competence and significant knowledge of the various hospital and university sectors

Knowledge of AUTOCAD, REVIT and MS Project software tools
Languages spoken: French, English – Excellent command of French and excellent technical and writing skills required.
TERMS
4-month fixed-term contract
Desired start date: August 17, 2026

Salary offered: €39,000 – €43,200 over 12 months depending on profile and experience
