Data Processing / Data Management Assistant At Sustainable Research and Development Center

SRD Center is seeking qualified Data Processing / Data Management Assistants to support the processing, validation, cleaning, organisation, and anonymisation of quantitative research data collected through a large-scale field survey in Baghdad and Basra.

The research will involve approximately 1,000–1,200 CAPI interviews, and the successful candidate will work closely with the Quantitative Research Expert, Field Coordinator, and research team to ensure that the final dataset is complete, accurate, properly structured, and suitable for statistical analysis.

Tasks:

The Data Processing / Data Management Assistant will:

  • Monitor and organise incoming survey datasets.
  • Check survey submissions for completeness and consistency.
  • Identify missing information, duplicate records, outliers, and unusual response patterns.
  • Conduct data validation according to established quality-control procedures.
  • Communicate identified data issues to the relevant research or field staff.
  • Clean and structure survey data for analysis.
  • Support coding and categorisation of variables and open-ended responses.
  • Maintain clear variable names, labels, codes, and documentation.
  • Support preparation of data dictionaries and codebooks.
  • Merge, restructure, and prepare datasets where necessary.
  • Maintain appropriate version control for datasets.
  • Assist with statistical data processing using Excel, SPSS, STATA, or equivalent software.
  • Support preparation of frequencies, descriptive statistics, tables, and cross-tabulations.
  • Ensure personal identifiers are removed or anonymised before final submission.
  • Implement agreed data protection and confidentiality procedures.
  • Support secure storage, transfer, and handling of research data.
  • Assist in preparing the final clean and anonymised dataset.
  • Work closely with the Quantitative Research Expert during analysis.
  • Support incorporation of field corrections and quality-control feedback.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all respondent information.

Qualifications:

Candidates should have:

  • University degree or diploma in statistics, computer science, information management, economics, social sciences, data science, research methods, or another relevant discipline.
  • Previous professional experience in data entry, data processing, survey data management, or research data cleaning.
  • Experience working with large survey datasets is strongly preferred.
  • Good command of Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience using SPSS, STATA, R, or equivalent statistical software is highly desirable.
  • Experience with KoboToolbox, ODK, SurveyCTO, or other electronic data collection systems is an advantage.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify inconsistencies and errors.
  • Understanding of data confidentiality and anonymisation principles.
  • Ability to manage large volumes of data accurately and systematically.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with researchers and field teams.
  • Arabic language skills are desirable.
  • Working knowledge of English is required for dataset management and coordination.
