Private Sector Coordinator At Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition

The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is seeking a Private Sector Coordinator to support the Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Business Network (SBN) with developing the tools available to engage business in nutrition increasing its business reach and impact. This role will be offered on fixed-term contract of 1 year and you will be based in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is a Swiss-based foundation launched at the UN in 2002 to tackle the human suffering caused by malnutrition. Working with both governments and businesses, we aim to transform food systems so that they deliver more nutritious food for all people. In particular, we aim to make healthier food choices more desirable, more available, and more affordable. GAIN’s mission is to advance nutrition outcomes by improving consumption of nutritious and safe food for all people, especially the most vulnerable to malnutrition.

About the Role

The SUN Business Network (SBN) has recruited over 300 companies to join the network, and supports over 20 SUN Countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America to build awareness of the importance of nutrition in the business community. National SBNs work with national business to advance nutrition through improved work force practices or the provision of nutritious goods and services. The SBN is convened at global level by GAIN and the UN World Food Programme (WFP).

The Project Coordinator Private Sector will help SBN Bangladesh to operationalize its SBN Bangladesh Strategy to strengthen the ecosystem of the SBN members, increase its business reach and impact by scaling up the number of business members and in promoting the agreed components of the national SBN action plan.

In close collaboration with the Portfolio Lead, you will have overall responsibility for the day-to-day operational delivery, implementation, and monitoring of the project, specifically focusing on tracking the progress and status of project activities. You will play a coordination role in GAINs cross-functional project teams and supporting the maintenance of relationships with partners and stakeholders. Ensuring the sharing of good practice amongst national SBNs events and that tools within the SBN’s Country toolkit are fully utilized to strengthen and scale up the national SBN.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Managing the project schedule, activity plan and planning milestones, supporting the tracking of progress and deliverables from project partners and implementing countries
  • Contributing to close collaboration with the Portfolio Lead to the design, and planning of the scope, activities and objectives of the project.
  • Identifying, escalating, tracking and resolving project issues on an ongoing basis, and proactively reporting to the Portfolio Lead issues which require wider attention and resolution.
  • Helping the Private Sector to monitor risks and develop contingency plans to respond to emergencies. Making an assessment and reviewing the status of projects and providing recommendations to the project manager on approaches and procedures for project implementation
  • Liaising with relevant environment, gender and safeguarding specialists to ensure that themes are present and relevant in project activities.
  • Contributing to building strong partnerships with civil society, INGOs, government entities, private sector and other organisations.
  • Supporting the Portfolio Lead in preparing donors’ reports in collaboration with project teams, technical teams, funding team and support teams.
  • Facilitating accurate project budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring that activities costs are kept within budgets.
  • Developing Terms of Reference for project consultants/suppliers hired on a short-term basis and ensure proper delivery of technical services and submission of technical and other report within ethical and procurement standards and guidelines.

About You

The ideal candidate should have strong proven experience in project management with a track record in delivering donor contracting and efficient budget management. You should be experienced in influencing, implementation and monitoring of international development projects. A track record of successful fundraising with multi-lateral, private and corporate donors would be an added advantage.

The post holder should be able to lead effectively, motivate and mobilise individuals within or outside their reporting line. Possess excellent stakeholder management, with the ability to operate within the corporate and public sectors to effectively liaise with private companies, local partners, and local community groups.

The candidate should have a degree or equivalent recognized international accreditation in business management, international relations, sustainable development, economics, development studies, public health nutrition or related work experience. Fluent written and verbal English and verbal Bangla.

About our Offer

The starting salary on offer for this role is from BDT 1,601,676 – BDT 1,830,276 per annum, depending on experience.
