Junior Coordinator ECHO Programmatic Partnership At Danish Red Cross

Danish Red Cross (DRC) is part of the Red Cross/ Red Crescent movement which is the world’s largest humanitarian organization with 15 million volunteers in 192 countries. It is guided by the fundamental principles and united by a central purpose to help without discrimination those who suffer.

DRC’s International Department supports vulnerable people both with long-term activities and short-term response in more than 30 countries in Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. We have approx. 50 colleagues based in Copenhagen and approx. 125 colleagues around the world. The overall purpose of DRC’s international engagement is to increase and strengthen the humanitarian impact, inspire, act for human dignity, and enhance resilience and social cohesion in fragile contexts of poverty, conflict, and disaster.

The position

The Junior Coordinator will be part of the Global Partnership Unit that leads the coordination and strategic direction of the Danish Red Cross’ organizational partnerships, external and within the Red Cross and Red Crescent movement. The Unit is responsible for global resource mobilization efforts and initiatives and provides support to countries and regions. The Unit hosts the Danish Red Cross’ core donor specialization knowledge and capacity on compliance and strategies. The unit supports and quality assures proposals to core donors

The programmatic Partnership is a pilot programme with DG ECHO under the lead of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC). For DRC the programme covers projects implemented in 5 partner countries where of DRC is consortium lead in 3. We are looking for a dedicated junior Coordinator based in Copenhagen to follow the Programmatic Partnership file and ensure the day-to-day coordination and administration towards IFRC and other PNS’ as well as within DRC’s country teams. The Jr. coordinator will work under the supervision of the Senior ECHO Advisor.

Main responsibilities:

  • Coordination/Liaison with IFRC on all external processes related to the Programmatic Partnership
  • Ensure timely delivery of reporting, documentation and other deliveries requested by the IFRC coordinating team
  • Consolidate annual plans and reports, apply quality checks
  • Coordination and planning of internal processes related to the Programmatic Partnership
  • Liaise with the finance DRC dpt. to ensure timely financial reporting
  • Ensure all administrative HQ tasks related to the PPP
  • Pro-actively support in following up on compliance issues in projects
  • Ensure that the visibility guidelines of the donor are well understood and implemented

We expect you to have the following qualifications:

  • Hold an academic degree in social science, international development or similar
  • Minimum 2 years’ working experience in a humanitarian/dev. Organization
  • Experience with donor modalities and compliance
  • Experience with programming, programme finance, proposal writing
  • In-depth understanding of the project cycle and LFA approach
  • Knowledge of DG ECHO procedures an advantage
  • Strong planning, facilitation, and coordination skills
  • Excellent English language skills necessary, French language an advantage
  • Experience from the Red Cross movement an advantage but not a prerequisite

Salary and employment conditions will comply with Danish Red Cross’s collective bargain agreement with HK and AC.

Note that the position is currently limited to 1 year.
