Mission France – Volunteer Nurse – Ile de France (M/F) At Doctors Without Borders

Doctors Without Borders, an international humanitarian medical association created in 1971, provides medical assistance to populations whose lives are threatened: mainly in cases of armed conflict, but also epidemics, pandemics, natural disasters or exclusion from care.

CONTEXT

MSF deploys a mobile clinic at Porte de la Villette once a week (Thursdays) for vulnerable populations, particularly migrants. The service involves volunteer healthcare teams (doctor, nurses, social workers, logistics personnel, and a security guard). The healthcare team provides consultations, dispenses medication, and refers patients to permanent healthcare services. The mobile clinic is equipped with a van fitted out for consultations, as well as tents for registration and consultations.

Main purpose:
To participate in the mobile clinic’s on-call service on Thursdays. To welcome patients and provide them with nursing care.

Responsibilities:

  • Assistance with setting up, tidying and cleaning the mobile clinic
  • To provide nursing care for people presenting at the mobile clinic.
  • Referral to the clinic’s doctor if an examination and medical advice are needed
  • Collect patient data using the MANO software
  • Refer patients to appropriate healthcare facilities.
  • Debriefing of the day at the MSF center in Pantin.

Desired profile

Education: Holder of the DEI (State Diploma in Nursing)

SKILLS :

  • Team spirit
  • Experience in supporting vulnerable populations is appreciated.

Availability :

  • Thursdays (10am-3pm): regular commitment to be defined according to availability.
  • Attendance required for the entire duration of the mobile clinic (approximately 4 hours, excluding travel time).
  • Minimum commitment desired: 2 months.

Supervision and support:

  • Integration and briefings provided by the project logistics officer and the head of medical activities.
  • Designated contact person to support the volunteer in their mission.
  • Constant presence of an MSF team on the ground
