Context:
Under the overall supervision of Programme Manager (MHPSS) and the direct supervision of the MHPSS Officer (Family Community and Support), the successful candidate will organize innovative and inclusive activities that build awareness of CAS psychosocial services and inspire the CAS community to be more engaged and active. He or she will be performing the following functions and responsibilities.
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
- Assist the Family and Community Support Coordinator in delivering all community engagement activities and promoting active participation from Camp As Sayliyah (CAS) community.
- Seek and integrate feedback from CAS community to plan the logistical elements of the activities (e.g., room booking, catering, order supplies).
- Develop Assist in the development of content to promote psychosocial well-being through regular creative and arts-based activities, sports, and play, etc. for different age and gender groups and assist in maximizing participation.
- Effectively work with community leaders and volunteers to provide and seek feedback regarding community engagement activities to help improve the activities.
- Assist with organizing meetings, cultural celebrations, workshops, and events to engage the community.
- Conduct outreach to inform CAS guests about the different community based MHPSS activities that are ongoing, workshops, opportunities and events.
- Organize platforms, workshop on disseminating key information and advocacy messages on MHPSS.
- Promote Assist in the promotion of partnerships, capacity building and strengthening of local and international NGOs, providing coaching, and networking.
- Reporting all services provided in SYNC; including all community engagement activities as well as visibility materials of all MHPSS activities conducted at CAS.
- Participate in the continuous monitoring and evaluation of the program and in the logistical elaboration of the programmatic phases of intervention.
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
- University Degree in social work, pedagogy, art, theatre, or any other relevant field with three years of relevant professional experience.
- High school degree with at least five years of relevant professional experience.
- 3-5 years field experience Community Engagement an advantage.
Experience
- Experience in facilitating/leading community meetings.
- Ability to work as facilitator, eliciting input without imposing your perspective.
- Ability to identify and address barriers to resident participation.
- Flexible availability during period of community engagement and proven teamwork capabilities
- Excellent knowledge and skills in MHPSS programming, resilience, psychosocial support, community-based activities, especially in an emergency context.
- Experience working with at-risk community members.
- Demonstrated ability to draft and prepare clear and concise formal correspondence and project reports.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills in a multi-cultural setting.
- Strong work ethics and commitment to humanitarian principles.
Skills
- Strong organizational, facilitation, communication, writing and presentations skills.
- Proficient in a Microsoft Office environment and office software packages; Data entry (database management) skills.
Languages
For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written). Basic knowledge of Dari/Farsi/Pashto and Arabic is an advantage.
