The International Potato Center (CIP) is seeking to recruit one (1) dynamic and experienced Communication and Knowledge Management Specialist to ensure effective communication concerning the implementation of the Integration of Orange-fleshed Sweetpotato Value Chain Development component of the MIONJO program in Southern Madagascar and access of the broader community to products, tools and methods generated by the intervention.
The Position: This position will be hosted by AfricaRice in Madagascar. One selected candidate will be based in Toliara, Madagascar, reporting to the Food Technology Associate Scientist and Project Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement a dynamic and cost-effective communication and knowledge management program, in collaboration with team members.
- Collaborate with team members to design an effective set of training tools adapted to the target audience and agroecological conditions, ensuring that all tools are gender-sensitive.
- Develop quality stories with visual evidence and short videos about the Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) of project.
- Develop an effective set of OFSP promotion visuals using video, poster, and radio approaches for low literacy populations in Southern Madagascar.
- Design and test effective demand-generation campaigns for the promotion of OFSP products, in collaboration with local organizations.
- Collaborate in the design and implementation of key promotional, fair, or market-based events for promoting the diversified use of OFSP and its processed products.
- Coordinate activities with MIONJO’s communications coordinating body and other implementing partners to avoid duplication, ensure standardized branding practices, and exploit synergies.
- Ensure that all project communications and results are uploaded to agreed websites.
- Maintain databases with all key knowledge outputs generated
- Ensure compliance with CIP’s open access policies for the results and data collected by the project.
Selection Criteria
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Communication, Literature, Journalism, Media Studies, Knowledge Management, or related studies.
- At least 5 years of experience in communications and/or knowledge management.
- Experience in event management preferred.
- Experience working with teams of graphic designers and others to design training tools.
- Experience writing scripts and success stories with the ability to explain scientific concepts and findings to a general audience.
- Use of MS Office software.
- Excellent writing and oral skills in French and Malagasy; working knowledge of English preferred; knowledge of local dialects in the South preferred.
- Excellent knowledge of social media, website document management, and radio planning.
- Excellent photography and/or video skills preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with team members to design, produce and validate effective training tools and promotional materials that are appropriate for the target audience and the agroecological conditions, ensuring that all tools are gender-responsive.
