Finance Officer At Wildlife Justice Commission

Role description
The Finance Officer is responsible for the registering and reporting of all finance-related activities of the organisation in Thailand. This includes day-to-day accounting, reporting on projects, and working with our accounting firm partner in drafting the annual financial statement & ensuring tax compliance. This post requires a highly organised, proactive, and dynamic professional with a hands-on attitude. A degree in accounting and an excellent command of English are essential to the role. Demonstrable experience with excel and finance software such AFAS.

Main Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the registering and reporting of all finance-related activities of the organisation in Thailand.
  • Working closely with our accounting firm partner, produce periodic financial reports in accordance with the Thailand authority, and prepare the annual financial statement including all related documents.
  • Facilitating the interim audit, the audit of the annual financial statement, and implementation of the audit recommendations.
  • Supporting the Thailand Country Manager, the Director of Programs, the Director of Wildlife and the Director of Finance and Services with various financial and administrative tasks when required.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the smooth running of all financial activities and processes in Thailand.
  • Ensuring proper functioning of the internal control systems of the finance department in Thailand.
  • Responsible for daily accounting and proper registration of all financial data in AFAS.
  • Working closely with HQ to produce periodic projects financial reports.
  • Creating monthly forecasting on income, expenses, and liquidity.
  • Serving as a key point of contact for other departments in Thailand on financial and accounting
  • matters.
  • When called upon prepare (project) budgets for donor proposals and assist in project specific audits.
  • Providing advice and feedback on a country level from a financial perspective to support the development of projects and the organisation in Thailand.
  • Handling the monthly tax payments and follow up on VAT and Withholding taxes.
  • Ensuring that the relevant documentation, including original invoices, are registered, and delivered to our accounting firm partner for processing.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business Administration.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Finance Officer or similar position.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Proven Thai native speaker.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • High sense of integrity and reliability.
  • Service minded, flexible, shows initiative, and inventive.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and in a high paced environment.
  • Good general understanding of IT software and advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Affinity with the mission statement of the organisation.

Skills

  • Previous experience working with an international non-profit organisation or an audit firm.
