Your challenge

War Child Netherlands is looking for an enthusiastic, enterprising Private Fundraiser. You help War Child to increase the income from the private market for our work for children in war. Are you the one who will help us with our ambitious plans?

As a Private Fundraiser you are jointly responsible for recruiting, retaining and upgrading private donors, whom we at War Child regard as Friends and therefore call them that. War Child is looking to expand the team in order to grow in number of Friends and income in order to help as many children in war as possible. You play an important role in this. You raise as many Friends and donations as possible through existing, creative and innovative fundraising initiatives. From your responsibility you initiate, coordinate and evaluate these fundraising activities.

War Child Netherlands consists of more than 40 passionate professionals who are responsible for a large part of War Child’s income, all fundraising activities in the Netherlands and for the reputation of the organization, both nationally and in the 15 countries where War Child is active. You are part of the Fundraising team and report to the Head of Fundraising.

Your responsibilities

  • You develop plans in which you determine where and how you can recruit, upgrade and keep as many Friends as possible.
  • You do this through telemarketing, campaigns, direct mails, events, but you also initiate new initiatives.
  • You are someone who proactively looks for opportunities in the market to test and further develop new methods.
  • You think along about the fundraising strategy and contribute to the implementation of our  friends journeys  to involve and retain our Friends.
  • You are data driven and you monitor and evaluate the quality of the fundraising initiatives for which you are responsible and you create insights into which fundraising methods are most valuable.
  • You work closely together and switch easily with other fundraisers, communication specialists and database administrators.
  • You alternately participate in project groups that are cross-departmental; in it you represent the interests of our private Friends.
  • You manage the schedules, budgets and targets for the channels and fundraising campaigns for which you are responsible.

Your Profile

  • You fully support War Child’s objectives, have an affinity with our work and are able to convey this to others.
  • Relevant work experience in a marketing, fundraising and/or commercial position at a comparable level is an advantage.
  • You are commercial and creative and you push the boundaries.
  • You work data-driven.
  • You feel comfortable in a dynamic working environment.
  • You have good communication skills and are fluent in Dutch and English.

Our offer

  • Salary between €3,017 – €3,752 (job group 7 junior fundraiser) and €3,478- €4,325 (job group 9 fundraiser) gross per month based on 40 hours/week (the scale is based on job group 7 (junior fundraiser) or 9 (fundraiser) years of relevant work experience).
  • 8% holiday allowance based on annual salary.
  • An employment contract for 32-40 hours.
  • 29 vacation days per year on a full-time basis (including 3 predetermined days off)
  • A pension scheme fully paid for by War Child.
  • Net contribution towards home working and travel costs in accordance with our hybrid work policy (our office is best reached by public transport).
  • Monthly mobile phone allowance of €25 net per month.

Our Organization

War Child spends as much budget as possible on helping children in war and therefore does everything it can to keep costs as low as possible. Our employment conditions are at the level of the Dutch NGO sector. The office is located in the Watergraafsmeer district of Amsterdam. We work in a hybrid way, with a combination of home, office and, in this position, of course, sometimes on the way to contacts.
