Protection Monitoring Officer (part-time) At Danish Refugee Council

DRC Poland is looking for two qualified and enthusiastic professionals to be part of the mobile protection monitoring team based in Warsaw but covering the Mazovian and potentially other neighboring voivodships. The protection officer position will be working under the supervision of the Protection Monitoring Project Manager and Specialist. They will develop and maintain good relations with the persons of concern and relevant stakeholders responsible for the provision of services to displaced persons and will support the implementation of DRC’s protection monitoring objectives and activities to provide timely and effective protection to persons of concern under DRC projects.

Responsibilities:

In close collaboration with the protection monitors and project assistant, lead on the planning and implementation of protection monitoring related data collection activities using standardized tools provided by DRC.
Identification of sites/ locations where monitoring of protection risks affecting persons of concern should be conducted.
Liaise with local authorities, service providers and humanitarian actors to identify locations where protection monitoring would be conducted, introduce project and secure access to monitoring sites.
Support protection monitors in directly collecting data on community level by conducting focus group discussions and key informant interviews.
Support the analysis of trends in the protection situation within the area for management, program, and advocacy purposes.
Develop area specific service mapping and regularly update those.
Provide appropriate and relevant information to refugees and migrants regarding their rights and services available to them through individual counselling and group information provision.
Regularly review and adapt heightened risk criteria; identify vulnerable individuals and facilitate appropriate action, including referrals to specialized services and Individual Protection Assistance (IPA).
Draft protection monitoring reports and provide input in designing protection monitoring tools and formats.
Document case studies, best practices and lessons learned from each of the activities implemented.
Ensure that DRCs protection activities are flexible and responsive by participating in (joint) assessments, identifying protection concerns and reporting for follow-up.
Ensure that DRC approach to protection is consistently applied through community – based protection methods.
Represent DRC in Protection meetings as required.
In addition to the above, the Protection Monitoring Officer may be asked to carry out other duties requested by the Protection Monitoring Project Manager.
Experience and technical competencies:
Minimum of 3 years proven experience working in the area of protection, social work, legal aid, MHPSS, legal counselling
Previous experience in working with NGOs or INGOs supporting refugees or persons at risk of exclusion.
Excellent communication skills, as well as respect, patience, and politeness, are needed.
Very good computer/mobile devices skills.
Understanding of key protection concepts.
Fluency in Polish and/or Ukrainian is required.
Good command of Polish, Ukrainian and/or Russian is desirable.
Working knowledge of English is considered an asset.
Driving license – mandatory.

University degree in related field (Social sciences, social work law, psychology, international relations, etc.)

Contract length: until 31.12.2023 (possibility of extension depending on funding availability)

Band: H

Base salary range: from PLN 11995 PLN to 13590 PLN gross per month, based on experience.
