Regional Finance Manager – Central America Region

Mission: The Regional Finance Manager will contribute to the financial management of Feed International Country Offices mainly in Central America Region (CA) or any other country offices as assigned. The position supports the following areas: Financial accounting, Operations support budget preparation, financial reporting, audit/internal controls review and systems support.

The role will oversee the Country Offices finance teams and will report to the VP of International Finance Operations with a dotted line reporting to the Regional Director. The Regional Finance Manager will work with HQ finance team on month end close, year-end procedures and other common finance duties as assigned including coordination of audits. This is a hybrid position and can be based in Guatemala or Honduras. This role serves as a member of the Regional Management Team.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field with a CPA.
  • Master’s degree in finance, Business Administration (MBA), Accounting, or a related field will be considered an advantage.
  • Specialized training in financial management for nonprofit organizations, auditing, internal controls, or risk management will be considered an advantage.
  • More than 10 years of demonstrated experience in finance and operations
  • More than 5 years of proven experience as a Financial Manager.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience leading, coaching, and developing finance or cross-functional teams, fostering accountability, collaboration, and high performance.
  • Experience providing functional leadership for financial operations across multiple countries or regional structures will be considered an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of international accounting principles and financial reporting standards applicable to nonprofit organizations.
  • Advanced knowledge of tax and labor legislation and regulatory requirements across El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras.
  • Demonstrable skills in the development of finance and accounting policies, procedures, and systems in the context of an international NGO.
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish is essential.
  • Knowledge of U.S. Government grants, contracting and auditing standards as they apply to effective management of multi-year funds.
  • Working knowledge of finance and regulatory standards (GAAP) and International Finance Reporting Systems (IFRS).
  • Experience driving standard 4×4 vehicles in rough terrain. Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to project and maintain a calm work environment while operating in a time and deadline-defined environment required by internal and external clients.
  • Excellent interpersonal, relational, and communication skills, with a history of inspiring collaboration across multiple functions.
  • Possessing a deep connection with the local context of communities in social risk conditions.
  • Ability to adopt and promote a positive attitude towards processes of change, renewal, and transformation.

Essential Job Functions:

Financial Management, Accounting and Reporting

  • Work with the Global Finance team to provide guidance on financial accounting issues and audit support to country offices.
  • Coordinate the resolution of all accounting system issues and financial reporting.
  • Provide and document the financial tracking and monitoring of ledgers, accounts, and related financial documents.
  • Support the creation of financial reports and other required financial disclosure documents.
  • Provide guidance to Country Offices for financial files management and maintenance.
  • Assist in the review of payroll systems.

Budget Management and Financial Planning

  • Monitor and review operational budgets to support financial stability, ongoing program viability, efficient cost structures, and appropriate spending.
  • Produce reports and follow-up on any Country Offices outstanding advances (workshop and travel) for review by the Global Finance team.
  • Monitor the project’s operational plan and provide guidance for the performance and achievement of the project’s finance, budget, administrative and procurement matters.

Internal Controls, Risk Management, Audit and Compliance

  • Work with the Regional Management Team to develop and implement robust systems of internal controls and ensure general management of risk and control environment.
  • Support funder-initiated financial reviews for Feed the Children International portfolio.
  • Ensures continual review of internal and strategic controls, communications, risk assessments, and maintenance of documentation.

Partner and Sub-awardee Financial Management

  • Provide financial oversight and support to the sub partner.
  • Review financial reports of all sub-awardees for processing monthly.
  • Supports partners as needed to ensure sound financial management and operations.
  • Work closely and transparently with all external partners, including third-party vendors and consultants, on financial and Operations support as requested by HQ.

Country Office Financial and Administrative Oversight

  • Effectively communicate and present critical financial matters to the Regional Management Team, Country Offices, Funders, and other external stakeholders.
  • Oversee and review of all financial documentation uploaded for Feed International Country Offices.
  • Provide oversight to the finance and administration Country Office POC and ensure their compliant and efficient support of the project’s activities.

Financial Systems, Processes and Capacity Building

  • Train and Orient staff on new accounting systems and business processes as they relate to finance.
  • Adapt policies from HQ for local implementation.

Operations, Procurement, Fleet and Goods in Kind Management

  • Overall responsibility of Feed the Children International Goods in Kind system.
  • Oversight of Fleet management policies and processes.
