Overview:
IBTCI seeks 2 Livestock Production Specialists for a potential award to provide Third Party Monitoring Services to the United Nations Food and Agricultural Organization in Iraq. As a Livestock Production Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing specialized expertise in the field of livestock production. Your responsibilities will focus on monitoring and evaluating livestock production-related initiatives and sustainable development projects, ensuring they align with international standards and contribute to the promotion of a sustainable future in Iraq.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties/Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Serve as the key technical expert in livestock production, providing specialized knowledge and guidance to the TPM team.
- Conduct data processing and analysis as needed.
- Conduct thorough and systematic assessments of livestock production projects to evaluate their design, construction, and overall performance in accordance with industry best practices and relevant standards.
- Identify potential technical risks, challenges, and opportunities for improvement in project implementation and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Participate in field visits to project sites to conduct on-the-ground monitoring and verification activities, ensuring that livestock production projects are executed as planned and meet the required specifications.
- Review project documentation, construction plans, and progress reports to validate the accuracy of reported data and assess project achievements against set targets and indicators.
- Verify the appropriate use of resources and funds, ensuring that they are utilized for their intended purposes and comply with FAO guidelines and donor requirements.
- Ensure the application of quality assurance measures throughout the project lifecycle, from planning and design to implementation and completion.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of quality control procedures, construction materials, and workmanship to safeguard the longevity and safety of livestock production projects.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- A minimum of 7 years of professional experience in livestock production, with a proven track record in planning, designing, and monitoring infrastructure projects;
- Language proficiency in English and Arabic.
Education:
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in animal health, livestock production or relevant field.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Previous experience with third party monitoring;
- Ability to work independently, travel to project sites, and work effectively in diverse cultural settings.
- Knowledge of international best practices, standards, and relevant regulations related to livestock production
Working Environment: Work is typically performed in an office environment.
Physical Requirements: This is largely a sedentary position that requires the ability to speak, hear, see, and lift small objects up to 20 lbs.
Supervisory Responsibility: This position may have supervisory responsibilities.
Travel: Travel throughout Iraq may be required.
Work Authorization: Candidate must be authorized to work in Iraq.
