Areas of activity

The global Forests4Future project, mandated by the BMZ, aims to ensure that state and private actors contribute to national and international objectives for the restoration of forest landscapes, poverty reduction and sustainable rural development, as well as good governance in the forest sector. From 2022, the new Cameroon country module began to implement activities. The objective of the module is to support measures to restore forest landscapes as a contribution to the conservation of forests and to the restoration of forests and landscapes rich in forests. In collaboration with partners, the module includes subjects such as land use planning, co-management for sustainable forest management, restoration of savannas and degraded forests,including sustainable pastoralism, income-generating measures ( for example via sustainable value chains ) for groups of local producers and users, and adaptation to climate change. With different actors, the project supports a holistic intersectoral approach by closely exchanging with the advisory unit in Bonn and the ProFEC anchoring project in the field, involving municipal and state partners such as the ministries of forests, the environment, land use planning and the private sector. Your missions

  • Capacity building with partner municipalities Yoko and Nanga Eboko and the decentralized services of sectoral ministries in the development and implementation of a co-management approach for the restoration of forest landscapes ( RPF) and forest resource management
  • Capacity building of actors members of the intermunicipal platform on natural resource co-management and the RPF
  • Capacity building of the peasant forest committees ( CPF ) in the project intervention villages in close collaboration with the ProFEC anchoring project
  • Monitor participatory land use planning in villages
  • Support to the project manager in the management of services for the implementation of participatory land use planning and the RPF
  • Contribute to knowledge management, the development of products from lessons learned from the implementation of RPF measures and the dissemination of results through the AFR100 initiative
  • Contribute to the introduction of technical innovations ( according to the fields of competence, but desirable in connection with digital )

Your profile

  • First professional experiences in the context of international cooperation in sub-Saharan Africa in natural resource management, forestry, biodiversity or rural development
  • A university degree ( Master ) in forestry, sustainable management of natural resources, land use planning or rural development with RPF knowledge are considered to be advantageous
  • Excellent Skills to Work in Intercultural Contexts and Excellent Capabilities to Work in Teams and Communicate
  • Proven experience with participatory approaches and the organization of networks / groups is highly desired
  • Ability to work temporarily in rural areas in Africa without access to electricity, running water or the telecommunications network
  • Good knowledge in French, English would be considered an asset
