Vacancy For The Post Of Graphic Designer (Cpdap) At The Colombo Plan

The Colombo Plan for Cooperative Economic and Social Development in Asia and the Pacific is one of the oldest intergovernmental organizations in the Asia-Pacific region. It was established in 1951 with the goal of achieving socio-economic progress in its member countries by actively forging and sustaining productive development-driven partnerships. In 1973, the Colombo Plan established its Drug Advisory Program (DAP) to address growing global drug-related issues. DAP’s strategic objective is to curb global drug use, which it strives to accomplish through concentrated efforts in the fields of drug demand reduction and drug supply reduction. DAP has recently been awarded a contract by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) to implement a project to develop and refine comprehensive, evidence-based curricula that will be used to guide the proper psychosocial and pharmacological treatment of drug addiction in children, and to subsequently conduct capacity-building training to individuals working in the drug addiction treatment field by using these curricula.

Applications are invited from qualified and experienced local personnel for the above post based in Colombo, which meets the required criteria: This is a local hire position contingent upon donor funding.

Purpose: The Graphic Designer will work as a part of the DAP and will produce mainly manuals and artwork/designs, layout for digital banners, posters, exhibition graphics, booklets, brochures, and publications as well as other tasks assigned by the CP leadership.

Job Duties/Main Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for design, layout, pre-press production of all DAP related manuals, publications and information materials.
  • Be responsible for the quality and final print of all DAP publications ensuring timely delivery of high-quality design assets.
  • Collaborate with the CPDAP team to design graphics that align with the organization’s branding guidelines and communication objectives.
  • Obtaining appropriate materials, articles, photographs and illustrations for all publications of DAP.
  • Obtaining quotations for printing services required by the Division.
  • Be responsible for all DAP publications and printed stock.
  • Prepare computer generated artwork, documents, charts, graphs and power point presentations whenever necessary.
  • Manage and maintain graphic files, including logos, photos as well as sponsor logos and photos relevant to CPDAP programmes.
  • Maintain all filing related to the position.
  • Assist the IT department in providing project/programme related information (reports, application forms and photos etc.) to update the Colombo Plan websites.
  • Manage and curate content for various social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.).
  • Schedule and publish social media posts in a consistent and effective manner.
  • Work with the Colombo Plan’s graphic designer team to ensure provision of consistently high-quality project materials
  • Work with other DAP Director and other CP staff as requested

Languages

English is the working languages of the Colombo Plan Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency English, i.e. oral and written proficiency, is required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Demonstrated expertise and experience in the design of a variety of graphically appealing print materials, such as manuals, meeting agendas, schedules, written reports, and financial reports
  • Expertise in using all innovative graphic design tools and programs to create outstanding materials, such as InDesign, illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.
  • Ability to work in both apple Macintosh Platform and windows
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, within short time constraints, and during times of rapidly developing events
  • Ability to work long hours and sometime work during the weekends.
  • Ability to thrive in a non-face-to-face working environment and to occasionally operate on a schedule that is outside normal Sri Lankan business hours (i.e., Eastern Standard Time)
  • Proficient at basic office computer programs, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Work Experience

A minimum of three years in the similar capacity
