Know our team

Nutrition International’s Operations unit is a dedicated team of program implementation experts who are responsible for contributing to the overall management of NI’s field operations in Asia and Africa.

This is a national position which is responsible to plan, manage, quality assure/control, supervise and report NI’s existing salt iodization and rice fortification projects and extend necessary support in other food fortification initiatives viz. double fortification of salt (DFS), lentil fortification, wheat flour fortification, edible oil fortification etc. through advocacy, liaison with the relevant government counterparts.

About you

You are a mid-level public health professional and nutrition expert with minimum of 7 years of experience in program management or have held such roles in the past and have experience in working with development organizations, food industries, private sector in managing and implementing multiple projects to ensure high quality programming in Bangladesh.

You have an excellent ability to develop internal and external partnerships and have collaborated with NGOs, UN agencies etc. or similar organizations working on public health and nutrition related programs. Fluency in English is essential.

About the role

The post holder will work closely with NI staff, national governments, other external partners, and consultants in Bangladesh on appropriate strategies for the cost-effective scale up of food system-based interventions, to improve the nutrition and health of children and adults – particularly adolescent girls and women of reproductive age in line with NI’s strategic objectives and vision to see a world free of hidden hunger. The post-holder will support NI staff in developing, implementing, and evaluating fortification programs in the region through the provision of technical know-how fortification in collaboration with NI Regional and HQ technical staff.

In this role you will be responsible to:

  • Support the development of concept notes and proposals related to salt iodization and rice fortification, adding value by applying technical expertise and up-to-date subject awareness to ensure proposals are technically sound, realistic, achievable and sustainable.
  • Oversee the implementation of all fortification program activities, ensuring that these are implemented according to plan, within the desired timeframe, and in line with the project design, meeting set targets.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders in fortification, including key government partners;
  • Stay abreast of and contribute to the latest knowledge and develop networks and collaborative relations to facilitate and reinforce sharing of best practice with other relevant programs, experts and organizations in Bangladesh relevant to fortification;
  • Support the development of operations or evaluation research to investigate persistent constraints to effective fortification to better inform program design and to identify innovative and effective approaches which could be scaled up.
