About the Chain of Hope

Chain of Hope is an international NGO founded in 1994. Its mission is to strengthen health systems to give everyone, and especially children, the same chances of survival and development.

We operate in 25 countries using a comprehensive approach, focused on the child but also on mothers and disadvantaged communities:

  • Prevention and screening from a very young age, particularly within the framework of school health programs.
  • Care and surgery, in order to meet the most urgent needs of children and their mothers.
  • Training and skills transfer to local teams through our international network of experts in all areas of surgery.
  • Construction and equipping of hospital facilities adapted to local needs.

Position and responsibilities

Reporting to the CEO, you will lead audit, internal control, and risk management at headquarters and in country offices. You will engage managers, ensure the successful implementation of corrective measures, and support teams without replacing them.

You report to the General Management and the Audit and Internal Control Committee (CACI). You also independently perform the functions of Data Protection Officer (DPO) and co-manage the reporting unit with the HR department.

Risk mapping and management

  • Update the risk maps of the association and country offices with their managers; monitor control measures and alert on major risks.

Internal audit

  • Define priority audits, conduct them at headquarters and in the field, then formulate prioritized and operational recommendations.
  • Manage the monitoring of action plans with managers, verify their implementation, report any obstacles and support, if necessary, donor audits.

Internal control, procedures and compliance

  • Develop internal control procedures and tools with the departments and ensure their adoption and application, both at headquarters and in the field.
  • Oversee the fight against money laundering and terrorist financing (AML/CFT), stakeholder screening and waiver management.

Personal data protection – DPO function

  • Advise GDPR services and contacts; monitor processing documentation, requests to exercise rights and personal data incidents.
  • Monitor GDPR compliance, prioritize recommendations, verify actions implemented by departments and alert the CEO, while respecting the independence of the DPO.

Ethics and whistleblowing unit

  • Raising awareness of the prevention of fraud, corruption, conflicts of interest and sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment (PSEAH).
  • Co-manage the reporting unit with the HR department; ensure confidential and impartial handling of alerts, follow-up of corrective measures and an independent process in case of conflict of interest.

Reporting, Governance and CACI

  • Provide the CEO with a prioritized dashboard each month (risks, audits, internal control, GDPR and action plans); alert on critical risks and propose the necessary arbitrations.
  • Prepare meetings, reports and minutes with the treasurer, president of the CACI; follow up on decisions and recommendations.
