1. CONTEXT
The Danish Refugee Council ( DRC ) is a private and independent humanitarian organization operating on all aspects of the cause of refugees in around thirty countries around the world. It is the first Danish NGO operating internationally for the protection of refugees and internally displaced persons against persecution and for the promotion of lasting solutions to the problems of forced immigration and conflict. All of DRC’s action is based on humanitarian principles and human rights, in accordance with United Nations conventions and the ICRC and NGO code of conduct during disaster relief operations.The’ approach to protection and’ assistance to populations affected by conflict is provided in a long-term and rights-based approach to ensure a coherent and effective response to the challenges of conflict conflicts of’today’hui. ’assistance consists of humanitarian assistance, rehabilitation, support to returnees and’, and promotion of long-term solutions to displacement and its causes. Currently, the actions carried out by DRC in the Admaoua region are concentrated in the Mbere department (municipalities of Meiganga, Djohong, etc, Ngaoui) and are piloted from the DRC Base in Meiganga and its Subbase in Djohong. DRC also operates in the Eastern region, Lom-et-Djerem department (municipalities of Garoua-Boulai and Betare-Oya).
2. OBJECT
Under the direct supervision of the Team Leader Programme, the’assistant (e) protection is responsible(e) for the direct implementation and monitoring of the project.
3. TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure the implementation of the project in accordance with the plans established by the protection teams ;
- Identify cases of protection and vulnerabilities, ensure their individualized follow-up and report or reference these cases if necessary ;
- Update the database, collect and transmit all the information necessary for project monitoring to the protection supervisor ;
- Prepare and implement all activities related to’information of beneficiaries and stakeholders ;
- Contribute to the implementation of necessary training within the project ;
- Contribute to the monitoring and the’evaluation of the project and its implementation ;
- Write or contribute to the drafting of the RDTs and reports requested by the supervisor ;
- Any other relevant tasks assigned by the supervisor.
4. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Qualifications
- Bac +3 in social sciences /humanities /law or in a nearby field ;
- Working knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook ; software ;
- Ability to work in an intercultural environment and demonstrate flexibility ;
- Ability to work under pressure ;
- Ability to work with methodology and rigor ;
- Team spirit and ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with project beneficiaries, partners and co-workers ;
- Knowledge of the’ intervention area ;
- Category A driving licence would be an asset;
- Advanced mastery of French;
- Mastery of the local language (Fufulde, Gbaya and Sango).
Experiences :
- Experience working in an international NGO, preferably humanitarian ;
- Experience of’ at least one year of work in protection programmes.
