Gender Based Violence Senior Advisor At Norwegian Church Aid

Norwegian Church Aid can now offer a very exciting position within the Humanitarian Division in the Department for International Programmes. Workplace will be at the head office in Oslo.

NCA’s thematic portfolio prioritises the prevention and response to gender-based violence, in both Humanitarian and Development settings. Working together with the GBV hub, the GBV Senior Advisor will provide leadership in building NCA’s GBV portfolio. As NCA is a triple mandated organisation, the Senior Advisor will be expected to collaborate closely with other thematic advisors, both development and humanitarian, to strengthen NCA’s integrated programming and NEXUS approach.

This position requires travelling to country offices and field responses. This also include traveling to high-risk areas and travel on short notice.

Duties and responsibilities:

Technical Leadership

  • Serve as NCA’s senior technical expert on GBV prevention and response, ensuring integration of best-practices and evidence-based approaches.
  • Lead the integration of GBV prevention and response across NCA’s Thematic sectors, improving NCAs overall Localisation and NEXUS agenda.
  • Lead the identification and development of strategic partnerships.
  • Pursue and develop partnerships with global, national and grassroots organisations.

Thematic Development & Resource Mobilisation

  • Support both Head Office and NCA country offices with resource mobilisation efforts in developing GBV thematic portfolio
  • Provide technical leadership and expertise in the development of proposals to relevant donors, both private and public
  • Integrate GBV considerations across all sectors of NCA’s work.

Research and Learning

  • Develop and facilitate learning events related to GBV prevention and response
  • Develop or adapt tools and intervention approaches, to guide and strengthen NCAs GBV portfolio.
  • Build capacity in GBV prevention and response within the organization through training, mentoring and supervision of relevant staff at the head office and country office
  • Support the development and implementation of GBV-related research and data collection
  • Routinely monitor and evaluate GBV portfolio of NCA and partner programming.

Qualifications

  • Degree in social work, social science, gender studies, humanitarian affairs, international development or related field. Solid and relevant field experience can replace formal education
  • Minimum three years of proven specialised experience in GBV prevention and response programming in conflict and post-conflict settings
  • Demonstrates knowledge of international humanitarian standards for GBV, specifically on the application of survivor-centered approach
  • Demonstrated experience of effective engagement with the humanitarian architecture
  • Solid experience in training and capacity building, particularly using participatory approaches and methods for training related to different components of GBV programming
  • Experience in supporting donor application processes and/or quality assure the technical components
  • Norwegian, French, and/or Arabic are an advantage
