Food Security Senior Advisor At Norwegian Church Aid

NCA is looking for an experienced colleague to join our team supporting country programmes on food security and economic development. In this role, you will play a key role in strengthening and developing NCA’s programme strategies to improve food systems, increase food production, and promote food security and sustainability.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Facilitate technical development and quality assurance of the food security thematic area within NCA in accordance with internationally recognised quality standards.
  • Support country offices’ work with local partners, communities, governments, and international partners to address the root causes of food insecurity and create lasting solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership in the design, implementation, and monitoring of food security programmes in line with the Norwegian food security strategy.
  • Oversee the global roll-out and implementation of NCA’s digital Farmer Tracking System.
  • Support the development of food security programs at the country offices, in close collaboration with the local program team.
  • Contribute to proposal development towards priority donors.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Agriculture, Environmental Sciences, Economics, Development Studies, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in food security, agriculture, or a related sector.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management and stakeholder engagement.
  • Good understanding of the policy environment related to food security programming.
  • Proficiency in relevant software tools for data analysis and project management.

OTHER DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERTISE

  • Field experience in developing countries.
  • Knowledge of sustainable agricultural practices, agroecology, and climate-smart agriculture.
  • Experience working with local and regional food value chains.
  • Experience working with donor-funded projects or international development agencies.
  • Knowledge of French/Portuguese is a bonus.
