Head of Humanitarian Affairs and Advocacy Intersection (m/f/x) – Mali – Médecins Sans Frontières At Doctors Without Borders

As Intersection Humanitarian Affairs and Advocacy Manager , you have an intersectional role and support all sections of MSF present in Mali.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement an advocacy strategy adapted to the context of Mali, in close collaboration with the 3 heads of mission (MSF-Belgium, MSF-Spain, MSF-France) and the Advocacy Unit at MSF headquarters
  • Identify the main strategic issues and target audiences
  • Influence tactics are developed for decision-makers
  • Monitor and analyze policy developments by working with stakeholders and other stakeholders to advance common policy goals
  • Laws, regulations, and other policy initiatives that may impact the organization are documented and communicated to overlapping mission leaders
  • Represent MSF at events and meetings to promote the organization’s positions
  • Make a list of major events and meetings scheduled in the country and/or region
  • The minutes of the meetings are written, analyzed/commented on and shared with the heads of mission

PREREQUISITES

Training and experience

  • Master’s degree in anthropology, social/political sciences, law, gender studies or protection
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as an advocacy manager in the field of humanitarian affairs, research, analysis or advocacy with MSF or other NGOs
  • Advocacy experience in the region is an asset

SKILLS

  • Good understanding of current humanitarian debates and the dilemma/trade-off nature of modern humanitarian interventions
  • Excellent writing, research and analytical skills
  • Adaptability and ability to work in a multicultural team as well as in an unstable and precarious environment
  • Flexibility and resistance to stress
  • Autonomy with a solution-focused approach
  • Diplomacy
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Motivation and humanitarian interest

LANGUAGES

  • Very good oral and written command of French
  • Knowledge of English is an asset

TERMS

  • Expected start date: 02/01/2024
  • Location: Bamako (Mali)
  • Mobility: Possible travel within projects
  • Type of contract: Fixed-term contract (CDD) – Full-time
  • Contract duration: 12 months (extendable)
  • Salary according to the MSF OCB field grid
  • The contractual terms, conditions and salary will be established according to the official residence of the selected candidates and in compliance with MSF’s standard job and salary scales.
