Research Assistant for FEWS NET Strategic Planning and Activity Design (SPADe) Support Project At Tetra Tech

The USAID-funded Famine Early Warning Systems (FEWS NET) Strategic Planning and Activity Design (SPADe) Support project, a global activity implemented by Tetra Tech International Development (International Development Jobs – Tetra Tech), is currently accepting expressions of interest for the Research Assistant position. This position can be fully remote from a continental US-based location or hybrid/remote within a commutable distance to either one of our office locations in Burlington, VT or Arlington, VA.

Position Description: The Research Assistant will support the project’s research activities under direction of the Research Advisor, contributing to literature reviews, data analysis, and other relevant tasks to complete Work Assignments (e.g., Country/Context Desk Reviews, Secondary Data Analyses, Market Analyses, Stakeholder Mapping and Analyses, and Scenario Planning). Research will be focused on food security, agronomics, nutrition, and humanitarian assistance. This is a full-time position, through 7 April 2026.

Responsibilities:

* Assist the Research Advisor in developing study methodologies.

* Collaborate with SPADe’s Gender, Equity, Social Inclusion (GESI) Advisor to ensure methodologies proposed and survey instruments developed, are gender sensitive, inclusive, and respectful of “Do No Harm” protocols.

* Collaborate with Tetra Tech’s Data Analytics and Technology (DAT) team to integrate data analytics in Work Assignment deliverables.

* Contribute to drafting Work Assignment responses for the Bureau for Humanitarian Affairs (BHA).

* Provide technical input as requested, including interpretation of analyses and technical writing, into Work Assignments related to Country/Context Desk Reviews, Secondary Data Analyses, Market.

* Analyses, Stakeholder Mapping and Analyses, and Scenario Planning.

Qualifications:

* Bachelor’s degree in international development, food security, agronomics, agricultural economics, or related field.

* Minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience.

* Experience in quantitative research methods and applied statistics preferred.

* Demonstrated experience working with food security, nutrition, and agriculture data.

* Demonstrated experience with development of research methodologies, supporting field data collection, and interpretation of data analysis preferred.

* Experience with the GIS (ESRI suite – ArcGIS Pro, Online, QGIS, Google Earth Engine) preferred.

* One or more years of relevant experience in a developing country is desired (service in a volunteer program is considered relevant).

* Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in French, Spanish,

Portuguese, or Arabic is preferred.

* Current US work authorization is required at the time of application.

Pay Transparency Statement:

We are committed to taking a thoughtful, compliant, and equitable approach to employment compensation and rate setting. We commit to providing a holistic comprehensive salary analysis, including reviews of individual skill sets and compensable factors related to qualifications, business needs, internal compensation data, and industry and labor market surveys. The anticipated pay range for this position is $55,000 to $65,000 annually.
