Senegal – Head of mission – M/F At The Chain of Hope

DESCRIPTION OF THE ASSOCIATION

La Chaîne de l’Espoir is an international NGO founded in 1994. Its mission is to strengthen health systems to give everyone, and in particular children, the same chances of survival and development.

It operates in 28 countries through a global approach, focused on the child but also on mothers and disadvantaged communities:

  • Prevention and screening from an early age, particularly as part of school health programs.
  • Care and surgery, to meet the most urgent needs of children and their mothers.
  • Training and skills transfer to local teams thanks to our international network of experts in all areas of surgery.
  • Construction and equipment of hospital structures adapted to local needs.

In Senegal, La Chaîne de l’Espoir is implementing several medical and biomedical projects. The first is a project aimed at promoting access to cardiac surgery care for children in Senegal and West Africa. This follows the construction and equipment of a center dedicated to pediatric cardiology and cardiac surgery (the Cuomo Cardio-Pediatric Center in Dakar). As part of the care of children from the sub-region, La Chaîne de l’Espoir supports the management of the Children’s Pavilion dedicated to pre and post-operative reception.

The second project consists of supporting the development of digestive endoscopy in Senegal, in collaboration with the Principal Hospital of Dakar.

La Chaîne de l’Espoir has also developed partnerships with two Dakar universities in order to strengthen the skills of future biomedical technicians and engineers and with an ambition to develop this approach in the sub-region from Dakar.

Finally, several initiatives are being developed around pediatric surgery and capacity building for medical staff in regional hospitals and the capital.
